Had a Hole in One Today!!

Just wanted to brag a little and let everyone know that I had my fist hole in one today. I was playing on Eglin AFB's golf course down here in Florida. Hole was 161 yards in to a pretty good wind. I hit a 5 iron landed about 6 feet short and it rolled right into the hole! I ended up shooting an 87. Not bad considering its only the 5th time I have played this year. :biggrin:

congrats. had an eagle on a par 4 three days ago. 425 yards. driver, 9-iron.

never had a hole-in-one, though. two near (tap in) double eagles on par 5s (both 525+). one near (tap in) hole-in-one on a par 4 (310). hit stick on another par 4 once (290). handful of really close gimmes on par 3s.

the hole-in-one eludes me.

funny story about a hole-in-one:

there is a local private club that is very, uh, old money. more or less, all members can trace ancestors back to the boat. no -steins or -bergs there. a few years ago there was a member-member tournament. a member hit his ball on a par 3, which has a mound that blocks the view of the actual hole and much of the green. he hit his shot and apparently thought it went just off the green. after looking very briefly, he found the ball. he hit the ball onto the green. other player then walks over to take the flagstick out. this player notices that there is a ball in the cup.

oops.

the guy cheated. he couldn't find his ball, and so he dropped one. he was kicked out of this very exclusive club for cheating.

it was his first hole-in-one. :lol:
