I was thinking the same thing, but McCoist suggested it was okay since he wasn't looking at the ball, making it accidental. I didn't think that mattered. I thought a clear hand ball in the box was a PK, regardless of intent.

There's the whole "ball played the hand" and not "hand played the ball" side of things, but that's usually on blasted shots where a defender naturally has his arm out. But with the arm extended that far away from the body, especially when it affects a header in the box, that's a handball and a PK.

Just looked at that. That's a call that could have gone either way. I agree that the hand contact wasn't intentional, but his arm was carelessly high. Since it blocked a header going in the direction of the goal, if I was Serbian I'd be ticked off about it.

I'm glad the US ended up with Ghana than Germany... remember the Germans were without Klose because of his two ridiculous yellow cards against Serbia. He's going to give the Brits some fits.

I'm just happy to see the American team live up to expectations this year. I think they have a good shot at beating Ghana if they play disciplined team ball. [/obvious].
