While getting absolutely ZERO help from the offense that night. Hell that defense got a near pick 6 and the offense still somehow came away with zeor points. Also keep in mind that was easily the best offense in the country that year, an offense that an Alabama defense being labeled as the GOAT couldn't even stop.

Schiano has one hell of a defensive mind and that come out several times through the season. The secondary was really inexperienced and is coming around late and will be better next year. They need to find a LB coach that runs a 4-3 and knows how to coach his players to it.
At the same time, I don't know if he jives well with Grinch. Grinch was supposed to come in to replace him and now they are trying to coexist.

I am not so quick to jump on Schiano given past results...we have a completely incompetent LB coach that needs to pack his box, Grinch is on thin ice with the performance in his first season here, and the secondary was pretty green. There are a lot of other variables here and Schiano has had plenty of success here and elsewhere (on the field and recruiting). Make no mistake, he is going to need to have the defense playing much better next year. But I think a lot of posters are having a short memory with Schiano.

Sorry, but the secondary is just as shitty as it was in game one...virtually zero improvement throughout the season.
