I doubt that. Can't really think of many, hell...any, coaches that have left an NFL job to go back to college. You hear about it from time to time, but never happens. I think for most head coaches, the NFL is the pinnacle of their profession. Some coaches just chose to stay in college, but once they make the NFL, they don't seem to leave by choice.Buckeyefrankmp;2097049; said:I guess your dream job suddenly changes after a scandal of that proportions. My guess he is hoping to bide his time in the NFL until things settle down at State Penn.
Urban's dream job looked much better than Schiano's dream job. Even with a bowl ban and reduced scholarships.

*Edit* Well, there was Bobby Petrino...but that guy had a history of job hopping...flirting with other potential employers. And he's an enormous doucherocket.
*Edit 2* Well, maybe nevermind. Saban and Petey were pointed out to me, so, yeah. Though, I think Petey caught a whiff of what was happening there and got out before the hammer fell. So, that's kind of a unique situation. And Saban, well, he's also an enormous doucherocket.

It'll be interesting to see where Rutgers goes now...they've put a lot of money into football and yet never even won the Big East.

Nj or the N$FL in Florida..Duh?jlb1705;2097156; said:It doesn't surprise me at all. He was walking a tightrope at Rutgers biding his time for the Penn State job while trying to maintain his appeal, and he was about to fall off. Compared to the last few years, a lot of the shine is off. People have started to forget about the Brian Leonard, Ray Rice & Kenny Britt teams. They're forgetting how far that program has actually come. What they see now is a coach who seems to have reached his ceiling, a coach who couldn't climb over the likes of Rich Rodriguez, Bill Stewart, Dana Holgorsen, Randy Edsall, Butch Jones, Dave Wannstedt or Charlie Strong to win a league title in the weakest BCS league going.
Now that the Penn State job is toxic, there's no sense in waiting any longer. Gotta strike while the iron's still a little hot. As it turns out, he has still done pretty well for himself. A couple more years at Rutgers like the last few and he could've been stuck at small-time programs for the rest of his career.
