Awesome read about Terry Glenn. I was too young then to know anything other than stats and jersey numbers, but I knew Terry Glenn was a good one. 1400 yards and 17 TD's in what amounts to your first chance is unheard of at a school like tOSU. What I definitely didn't know was pretty much everything in that Tom Silverstein article. Really got my eyes opened up, because you should hear the things some people I know complain about. They have no idea. I'm not completely innocent either!

I do remember Jayson Gwinn playing for the Buckeyes. Without looking, (I think I was 7th grade when he died) let me guess: OLB #49? I could be so far off but please quit laughing at me. Another thing, didn't his cousin Anthony Gwinn play at OSU a year or two later, and display A.J. Gwinn on his nameplate to honor Jayson? Again, just my best recollection. Someone please get me off the hook here.

I remember getting the phone call from Dr. Lombardo the night of the accident (early AM hrs) to inform each player of the bad news and to meet in the WHAC the next day for a meeting. J Gwinn was a great person, laughing all the time! I hope his son grows up to be just like him!

Best OSU walk-on ?

After watching the N/S game and seeing that OSU has a lineman that will be walking on; it made me think of whom has succeeded @ OSU via walk-on status. I know some eventually get scholarships; which is nice. If I recall, it seems like Nebraska had a former walk on that turned into a AA lineman. Does anyone have any success stories ?

Terry Glenn and Andy Groom were walk-ons who achieved All-American status as Buckeyes.

Mike Stafford was a talented OG from Upper Arlington during the '02 season before getting hurt.

Mike Kne also walked on from St. Ignatius I believe and he did pretty good to earn a schollie his senior year.

I would agree that Terry Glenn had the most impact. I am surprised to say the least though, that no one has mentioned one Andy Groom...

Without a doubt Terry Glenn had the most talent and the most to overcome of any walk-on at OSU.

I also like the story of Andy Groom because he toiled behind BJ Sander and persevered until Coach Tressel came aboard and recognized his talent.

this might sound kinda corny and lame, but if you ask me, the greatest walk on is anyone who has ever walked on at OSU. I mean its hard to get on the team. So I give all walk ons credit.
