Ohio State has had stellar quarterbacks for quite some time now. Some say Troy Smith is the best one, as the two-year starter brought home the Heisman Trophy in the 2006 season.
At he and former Buckeye QB/WR Braxton Miller’s Youth Football Camp at the former Urbana University campus in Ohio, Smith was asked about the aspect of people considering him the best quarterback in school history. He appreciates those thoughts, but he wanted to get into some other Buckeye greats.
“You know what? I appreciate that other people give me that honor. I think some of the other guys are great as well. I’m a fan of Ohio State quarterback play. We just had a first-rounder in Justin Fields who I’m a good friend with as well. Dwayne Haskins -- greats like J.T. Barrett, Braxton Miller.
“Then we go back to the people I really grew up on -- Bobby Hoying, Joe Germaine, Stanley Jackson. All of these guys made me want to play the position here.
