Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult!
How Booze Can Boost Your Brain Power
Women who consume no less than one alcoholic drink a week and no more than two drinks a day--which is considered moderate drinking--achieved higher cognition scores in their old age than seniors who had less than one drink a day or didn't drink at all, report Reuters and HealthDay News of a new study from Columbia University in New York. Drinking? Don't eat THIS. Alcohol and one specific type of food are a bad mix for your good heart health.
The study: Led by Dr. Clinton B. Wright, an assistant professor of neurology at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, this multi-ethnic research project included 2,200 men and women who ranged in age from 62 to 76. Slightly more than half the participants were black, about 25 percent were Hispanic and 21 percent were white. The participants disclosed how much alcohol they typically drink and they were then divided into five groups:
--Never drank.
--Drank in the past but don't currently drink.
--Drink less than one drink a week.
--Drink at least one drink a week but no more than two drinks per day.
--Drink more than two drinks a day.
Did you know that what you drink affects how you look? Find out the specific impact of wine, beer, and spirits.
The results: Scores on the "Mini-Mental State Examination" were higher in those who had up to two drinks per day than in those who did not drink at all or consumed less than one drink a day, a finding that is confirmed by previous research. Interestingly, this effect only applied to women and not to men. The study findings were published in Stroke: Journal of the American Heart Association.
You may not believe how many U.S. adults admit to drinking alcohol regularly.

Too bad for us guys though...:sad2:
