Granite countertop scare.

If you have adequate ventlation it's probaby not a problem. If you have any doubt, try something like concrete or another material(Corian). You have many options.

regardless of a little radon scare (I didn't even read the article or listen to any of the hub-bub) if you are looking to replace countertops and are considering granite I would HIGHLY recommend concrete. Concrete countertops are the new age granite. Before you get some preconceived notion that your countertop will look like a sidewalk, just do a quick google search and see for yourself. They really are gorgeous and far exceed granite on many levels.
