Game Thread Grambling State at #1 tOSU, Sat. Sept. 6th, 3:30 ET on BTN

As much as our guys need reps I hope we can get our starters out by halftime of both of the next two weeks.

That said, I hope we go for 700 yards and 70 points. I know we likely will show mercy but these guys need confidence and to be rewarded for a hard off season. Let them go make plays

Ohio State big favorites over Grambling State

Fresh off it's marquee win over Texas, Ohio State is heavily favored over visiting Grambling in Week 2. We have much more.

This will be the least-surprising thing you read all day. Ohio State is heavy favorites over visiting Grambling State on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET; BTN). Well, not based on the point spread, per se. And that is because the spread has still not been released. But according to ESPN's Football Power Index, the Buckeyes have a win probability of 99 percent in this contest. So, you're telling Grambling there's a chance.

THE SITUATIONAL: Box Office Poison

157681_h.jpg

Two things can be true at once.

Consider the duality of non-conference scheduling: This weekend's visitor, the historically rich and successful Grambling State football program has no business being on Ohio State's schedule. OSU has transferred GSU a million dollars for the privilege of losing by whatever score Ryan Day chooses on Saturday.

This opponent was originally UConn, which, meh? Anyway, GSU already cashed the check.

The Horseshoe just hosted 107,524 fans for the Buckeyes' first game, which by itself is about the same number who attended 10 of Grambling State's 12 games in 2024. So this visit will be an occasion those players will reminisce into their golden years, regardless of the scoreboard.

Hence, the duality of scheduling. GSU deserves this opportunity. And so does Ohio State.
Grambling State is ranked #257 in SP+ while Ohio State is #1. The predicted score is 61-0, but the final will be whatever ryan day decides.

If this were a veteran team I would say yes to that. But they have a lot of players who are only making their second starts. I think you have to keep them in a little longer to get more experience.
Probably will be mid 3rd as normal. Seriously hope we press for a score on every drive.

This is not a good FCS team so this should go pretty well.

Just dominate running the ball and be explosive throwing.
