Graham G"LLLL"asgow (OL Detroit Lions)

Michigan’s Glasgow facing drunk-driving charge

When Michigan confirmed that starting offensive lineman Graham Glasgow had been suspended last month for “violating team standards,” it was subsequently reported that the suspension was connected to an arrest on a driving-related offense.

As it turns out, the “driving-related offense” was significantly more serious than speeding or blowing through a stop sign.

Both mlive.com and the Detroit Free Press reported Wednesday morning that Glasgow will be charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. And arraignment on the charge has been scheduled for May 19.

Suspended Michigan lineman Graham Glasgow back at practice?

It appears that Graham Glasgow may be rather expeditiously climbing out of Jim Harbugh‘s doghouse.

In July of 2014, Glasgow was sentenced in connection to a drunk-driving charge from March. As part of that sentence, he was placed on 12 months probation, with one of the stipulations being that he couldn’t consume alcohol. Earlier this month, however, the offensive lineman violated said probation by blowing a .086 on a Breathalyzer test, which triggered a suspension from the football program that was announced March 16.

Less than two weeks later, it looks as if Glasgow is back to practicing with his teammates. Or, at the very least, dressing for practice.

In the background is a No. 61. Glasgow wears No. 61, and is the only player with that number listed on the Wolverines’ online roster. So, unless another player borrowed the jersey, Glasgow is back on the practice field.

According to the Detroit Free Press, and because of his recent probation violation, Glasgow “will have six more months of probation past his original July 2015 end date, will have to take breathalyzer tests twice a day now, once in the morning (6-9 a.m.) and once at night (9 p.m.-12 a.m.) at the Ann Arbor Police Department and will have to serve five days on a Washtenaw County Jail Work Program by April 30.”

When your line is already complete garbage, what is Harbaugh supposed to do? not play the slightly less terrible option?

I'd really enjoy if Harbaugh's attitude was: "Screw it, it's not like I'm at Stanford anymore with standards of conduct to uphold. These idiots are so desperate they'll let me get away with anything. I mean, Hoke suspended a convicted felon for all of one game and no one said anything about that."

It's too bad they killed that 5th year Sr transfer rule. Now kids like this are going to get screwed out of transferring strictly because their current school doesn't offer a major that their desired location just happens to offer.

They killed the "I want to transfer for playing time err because my family member is sick" rule. I believe the 5th year free agency system is alive and well.
