We have gotten about a foot with winds gusting at 50mph - so it is all in very tall drifts. Add that to the fact that there are no lawns or places for the snow to settle in Manhattan, and you end up with semi-okay streets and sidewalks and huge drifts between. One car in front of my apartment is pretty much covered.
We are to get about 2 feet total. Sushichic, in Boston, is going to get nailed the most of anybody in the northeast (well, not her specifically, but Boston as a whole. :) )
Our storm is supposed to be over today in the early afternoon-- though it just got sunny here right now.
Oh yeah - I have a basset hound. Poor dog tunnels through the snow more than walking on it. He loves it though. . .
