Google is messed up

I have no idea what she did, but when my mom searches with Google now, every result is some kind of hidden add. The actual results are the same as they would be on anybody's computer...but the links go to places that aren't even related to what she's searching for.

example: I just searched for buckeyeplanet. It comes up with BuckeyePlanet - Ohio State Fan Community
Ohio State Buckeyes - Buckeye football focus, but all sports discussed. Recruiting info, stats, boxscores, forums. OSU basketball, football, baseball.

But when you click the link, it takes you to web-antivirus.com. The search result right below takes you to bestwebchoices.com. The search below that takes you to monstermarketplace.com.

Anybody ever heard of this?

Goto malwarebytes.org and get Malwarebytes trial/free edition. There should be a c|net direct download link on the left of the main page.

I had the same thing on my laptop and had to go in and manually remove all the hooks. I picked it up shopping through Google Shopping.

Run a find for TWAIN.EXE and rename any folders that it touches. That won't get rid of the problem but should help with the symptoms.

There was another .exe too that was causing the problem but it can be removed with the anti-virus software listed in the post above me
