Going to my First game in years!

BuckeyeNok

Newbie
I was lucky enough to get some tickets for the illinois game. 26AA !!! I can't wait to make the drive from Oklahoma back to Columbus. my question is since its been a while since ive been down there, where are some good hotels to stay in that's close to the stadium, as well as what is the best time to get to the Shoe. I read that this year, the Skull session with be 2 hrs and 20 mins before the game, and I also wanted to know if there is anything I should know about parking, good places to eat, (Thurman's, etc). Thanks in advance for any info.

Any hotel on Ackerman or on Olentangy River Rd (if you want to walk from your room).

If you don't mind driving, I'd go up to the Crosswoods area on 23N and 270. Lots of business level hotels (as well as a few econo motels if you're trying to save money). Straight shot down 315 and you're at the game.

Places to eat:
Chinese - China Dynasty (on Lane Ave.)
Italian - Morettis of Arlington (in Upper Arlington)
Burgers - Thurman's Cafe, Five Guys, Graffiti Burger
Sandwiches - Easy Living Deli (on Lane Ave. - run by a former OSU kicker)

Misc. places to eat - Scmidt's Sausage Haus, Rusty Bucket/Old Bag of Nails (both are pub places), Clarmont/Eddie Merlots/Hyde Park (steakhouses)

Parking - http://tp.osu.edu/Maps/FootballParkingMap.pdf

If you want a good seat for Skull session, you'll need to show up early in the morning.

Close to a ding for putting these two in the same sentence.

Five Guys makes a really good burger.

Thurman's is a life changing experience.

I totally agree. Just giving options. Plus 5 guys is less likely to be crowded. Although when I first ate their, I was a bit underwhelmed at the size of the Thurman Burger (I can put away food). Still incredibly tasty.

I would have the order as Thurmans, Graffiti, then 5 Guys.

At least we're all in agreement, Thurmans is first
I remember back when I didn't have a cholesterol problem. :sad2:

Thurman's is a must. I want to check out Eddie's place as well.. And dang it, Archie needs a restaurant. Billy Sims has some here in oklahoma, and they always say "Home of the Heisman". I want Archie to have a place so he can call it "Home of the Heisman(S). :)

Thanks for the input guys. Glad I got great seats for a game. Will be worth the 14 hr drive. !

Five Guys doesn't take 3 hours to be seated and eat.
