Going to College in something other than Sports

  • I thought there might be others on the board who have kids, grandkids, or themselves are making the determination on what to go to school in and what school to go to. The choices for college students today and the information available to them is unreal compared to what I experienced. Thinking through the visits, the letters, the scholarship searches, etc. I thought it might be fun to do a thread that would have a similar feel to how we do the recruiting thread. So here goes....

09 IN PreMed Buckeyebri's Daughter (Official Acceptance)

    Indianapolis Cathedral High School

    GPA: 4.23
Ranking: N/A (they don't rank the students)
    SAT:
    ACT:

    Extracurricular Activities:
3 time Varsity Golf Letter, 2 time State Participant
    Varsity Track
    Peer Mentor
President of Riley's Children's Hospital Marathon (2 years)
President of GUTS (Girls United to Serve)

    Current Acceptance:
Ohio State, Marquette, Loyola of Chicago, College of Charleston, Indiana, receiving interest from Boston College

    2/8
After returning from a recruiting trip to Marquette, BBD informed the BPART that she had two favorites in College of Charleston and Loyola who were at the top of the list with Marquette running close a close second.

College of Charleston is a preppie kids party school. I know because my cousin went there. If she shooting for Jesuit the top end is BC or Georgetown. If you want below that shoot for Creighton. If you want to go Catholic go to Fairfield.

I know that's what you meant to say.

Not sure I understand just what this thread is meant to do...

just an academic parody of the recruiting threads...but also a place where folks could share their stories of the college experience they may currently be going through individually, as a parent or grandparent....

I'm going to college for Sports. I just won't be playing them.

Sport Management Major; Sport Communication Concentration.

Yeah, I'm going to be who you all hate, Sports Media.

edit: Didn't know I had to have kids or grandkids to take part in this thread. :roll1:

My 7 yr old son has already announced he is going to tOSU and will be playing ball for Tressel... Hard to argue with such determination.

If doesn't work out send him to UNLV. He gets to go to college in vegas and now you have a reason to visit many times a year
