methomps, By Erickson being canned today, Do you think the "Petey to the Niners" is a real possibility? it was reported earlier today(before erickson was officially fired) on another website.

Well, I just gave my two cents on the SC board, so I'll just copy and paste here:

"Is it any surprise that a 2-win coach just got fired? It was inevitable. Will Pete take the job? I don't know. Anything is possible. We've been lied to before (Williams). Will he take 03 and 04 with him? No, not possible. We'll take someone like Petrino and try to start a new chapter. If he stays, we'll make lots of people wish he left."

He's said repeatedly that he wouldn't, but so did Mike Williams. Same with Leinart if he leaves. It will hurt, but SC football will go on. He has breathed life into our program, and he will always be one of the USC greats.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't really answer your question completely. Do I think he will go? Not really. He had to know that the opportunity would come up, so why flatly deny it even this morning?
