God I hate Texas fans!

As I have said before, I live down here in Texas, and I think Im gonna shoot the next complete homer Texas fan I meet. At work today I got to listen to 3 Texas fans tell me all about how Texas's D is 10 times better than tOSU. Then about how thier WR corp is better than ours, and then get this..how thier LBs are better than ours. At this point I started grabbing random people walking by and asking them "who would you take, the Texas LBer trio, or Ohio States" and without fail each one of them said Texas. I dont get it, I understand the concept of loving your team, but you dont have to be an idiot about it. Im man enough to concede that I would take VY over Smith, and I would damn sure take the O-line over ours. And I would give them a push with the secondary.

This is just part of what I put up with daily, I heard one of em even say today that Mack Brown is a better coach than JT. I had to stop right there and end the conversation, I mean....seriously? This is the conclusion that I have come to.....Texas (especially under Mack Brown) in recent memory has a history of always losing big games....like EVERY time, and so they finally win some big games and a NC, and they dont know how to handle it...the old "act like you been there before" I know Im ranting about something that is completly beyond the realm of my control, just thought I would share some insight into how these boys are acting down here

All of the Alabama fans down here are suddenly Texas fans since birth. And I have to hear about how Vince Young beat Ohio State in Ohio Stadium almost everyday.
God I can't wait until Troy gets his shot next year.

There are fans and then there are "fans". When you talk to some of these "fans", ask them some questions, like: "name your last five starting QBs" "What's your favorite Darryl Royal quote? How about your second favorite? Third favorite?" "Name the best UT tailback outside of Ricky Williams, Ced Benson and Earl Campbell", etc. Just basic questions, nothing too obscure.

Real fans know their team and it's history. "Fans" just jumped on the bandwagon this year, and that sweatshirt they're wearing hasn't even seen the wash yet.

We've been fortunate that the Horns fans who have come here to visit are the real deal. I'm sure that they're just as embarrassed by those folks as we are by the average boorish "Nuts" over on another site.

BB brought out some great things ion his above post. Hell, just ask them to name those lindbackers, or even their starting defensive line. Of course, if you want to get a little obnoxious, ask them why none of their linebackers were finalists for the Butkus or won the Lombardi. Or better yet, just print out these stats on a small piece of paper and show it to every clown who says their defense is better:

Final 2006 Team Defensive Statistics

Rushing
  • Ohio State #1
  • Texas #33

Total
  • Ohio State #5
  • Texas #10

Scoring
  • Ohio State #5
  • Texas #8

I have to come to the aid of Texas fans. Most of the ones I know were great all year. Didn't taunt or rub it in about beating us. They've been as humble as you could possibly expect, even after the championship. I will say all the UT fans I talk to are alums. I'm sure the band-wagoners act a lot different.

I'm sure a Texas fan living here would feel the same about Buckeye fans. We've 'Gained' alot of homer fans since the NC, and included in that group are many of the idiots that say shit regardless of who/what they're talking about.

Every team ahd idiot fans. I'm sure Texas gained a few million in the last month or so.

The Texas fans I know or have read from on here, are just as passionate as we are. I've enjoyed reading their posts and was very happy to see them win it all (if it couldn't be us).

The Horns' fans I know can't name 3 players on the Texas team. They keep wanting to say Mack Brown! They're selling NC t-shirts on every street corner here in San Antonio.

I know a few Texas fans here in northwest Ohio. And all they know how to do is that longhorn hand gesture. Rather annoying. However, most Texas fans on the internet I have chatted with seem nice and i've had some nice discussions upon next year's game. So there's always exceptions.
