I'm with you. I'd love to see them win. They have played ND really tough recently.
Go Navy indeed. Army/Navy becomes a big game for our family as my wife was Navy, I was in the Marines and her dad is US Army Retired.

If Navy wins this, they could very well run the table and crash the BCS. That would be sweet for the first non- BCS team to be a service academy still running the triple option. :banger:

Short, marginally appropriate story:

I was trying to decide between an graduate fellowship at tOSU and a Navy OCS gig during my senior year as an undergraduate. Frankly, I was leaning toward OCS and it was getting close to the deadline to tell tOSU yes or no, but I hadn't finished interviewing with the Navy. I had an interview scheduled for a Saturday morning after an evening of self-imposed alcohol poisoning. As luck would have it, fate made my decision for me and caused me to blow chunks all over the recruiting office. I was summarily informed that Naval Intelligence was probably not for me, but that I could probably be a Marine. I accepted at tOSU the following Monday.

Go Navy. Were it not for your rigid officer candidate recruiting standards, I would never have been a Buckeye.

When I was first going through my physicals and medical shit, I had to go to the Jacksonville MEPPS on a Thursday morning. Problem: Wednesday night was the Nuclear Assault concert at Finky's.

My recruiter showed up and poured me into the van and drove me to Jax. I stepped into the audiogram booth and was told to press the button when I hear a beep. I just sat there and held the button down. She buzzed in "What are you doing? You're jamming the machine." I said in a kinda loud so I could hear myself voice "You said to press when I hear a beep. Thats all I hear right now. One long, everlasting beep!!!!" The recruiter was so pissed.

Got sent home for three days with ear plugs and retook it and passed.

That's hysterical. I did MEPPS up here last year for Army JAG reserve and I was so beat by the time we got to the damn booth for the hearing test (the fucking thing started at 5:15 AM), I almost just said fuck it and squeezed the thing at random. I felt bad for all the enlisted recruits who were going to have to be there another ten hours or so.

Assuming that Navy gets it done finally, I'll answer the question in advance.

If Navy breaks the streak of 40 straight, Nebraska's 36 in a row over Kansas becomes the longest winning streak of one Div-1 program over another.

I'm an oohrah devildog so...GO NAVY!!!!!!!!! I'm very proud of those future Marine and Naval officers. Navy is my 2nd favorite team behind the Buckeyes and I love watching the Military Academies play. I hope Navy gets to a really nice bowl game this year and wins.

These colors don't run!!! Watch out domers!!!!

GO NAVY
GO BUCKS

I thought last season was their year. Who would have thought that they'd be doing so well after losing Candeto and some of the other outgoing seniors? After tOSU, Navy is probably who I follow most, so I would LOVE to see them finallly knock Notre Dame now (it would be of a similar significance to Northwestern knocking us off), but I'm not going to hold my breath

Zero? Check the number of years since the last time NW beat OSU. Then check the number of years since the last time Navy beat ND.

There's definitely a comparison to be made, particularly given the scope of my comment spoke to the significance of the win to Navy. Navy wins, and they get a multiple decade long monkey off their back, which is exactly what Northwestern did.

C'mon Chief, you know better than to try and contradict me.

Just when I thought you were done making dumbassed posts. :roll1:

While Ohio State had beaten Northwestern 24 straight times prior to the Wildcats' upset a few weeks back, Notre Dame has beaten Navy 40 straight times. Think about it, that's 16 more straight times than what we had against Northwestern. Normally, if one team beats another 16 times in a row, that's total domination, and yet that's what you have above and beyond the streak we had. Also, Notre Dame is 67-9-1 (.877) against Navy all-time, while we were 55-13-1 (.804) all-time before the loss, so although you've played Navy nine more times then we'd played Northwestern, you still have four less losses to Navy than we had to Northwestern. Plus we lost at Northwestern, while Navy would win at a neutral venue (East Rutherford, NJ). Lastly, although Navy is unbeaten, who have they played? Here's their record so far this year:

Beat Duke (1-4) at home, 27-12
Beat I-AA Northeastern (3-2) at home, 28-24
Beat Tulsa (1-4) at Tulsa, 29-0
Beat Vanderbilt (1-4) at home, 29-26
Beat Air Force (3-3) at Air Force, 24-21

They barely squeaked by a mediocre I-AA by four points at home, and three out of the four I-A teams they've beaten are 1-4, with the remaining team being 3-3. Two of those games against I-A opponents have been 3-point wins. And in case you're not good at math, their opponents' composite record in I-A games is 6-16. So don't give us this insinuation that Navy is good because they haven't lost yet...I'll take Northwestern over Navy this year, no doubt.

now, now, be nice to the poor domer. He's just a little touchy about the subject matter. His team's doing OK this year, but I think there's still a whole lotta nervousness in the irish camp these days. Kinda like how we're all feeling right now.

Having said that... them Navy boys are gonna kick some ass today :)
