Tickets are mailed out 14-21 days in advance of the first game, so tickets hit the mail in the first or second week of August.

Seating location is determined in July, I think.

You will not be able to get your seating location, until your tickets arrive.

I have been getting season tickets for quite a few years now and you are 110% correct.

Didnt know where seat allocation was until they arrived the first year. I donated the same amt as another person and their seats were not good for 2-3 seasons...like 9Cish I think. Mine are 27A. They eventually got better seats by calling and asking why they didnt have better seats. This is my 5th or 6th year with my seats, I always request the same, maybe in the future I'll ask to change. I wanted to build up my points before asking to move. Unfortunately donations are going up next year to maintain the same seats :( With the increased donations and ticket prices going up, I wonder if it'll be worth it in the future. I only get back for 1 or 2 games a year. The lifetime ticket holders and the other ticket holder groups really hurt the system b/c they just pay for tickets and no donations. O well...the price we pay for a little Buckeye enjoyment.

Just sayin': As a "lifetime" alumni season ticket holder I really should ding you for that comment. I've been paying full retail prices for my tickets since 1971 (in addition to parking, concessions, programs, etc.), and I fail to see how I have "hurt the system".

I totally understand your reply, but I also pay for all those things. You guys ONLY HAVE to pay for tickets. My donations HAVE to increase by $500 next year. Buckeye club and presidents members have to donate thousands just to get tickets. The other members who were lucky enough to be around when the lifetime programs came out do not and will never have to. I'm not knocking u guys, I'm just pointing out the fact OSU is losing out on a lot of money because of these programs they decided to institute way back when, hence why they ended new members of these programs. Ohio State has even said that these tickets are starting to be freed up and they will be replaced as buckeye or president's club seats requiring donations. I guess it irks me a little b/c the people beside me always give me a guilt trip that they used to have all 4 sets in a row, but when their father died, Ohio State only let them keep 2 of the seats b/c they don't donate for them. I pay 3x more than they do for basically the same seats. All I'm saying is there's a lot of money left on the table and unfortunately it's the donation payers that will continually have to pay more. If I find the article that was done about it and Ohio State's remarks about it, I will post it here. Again,not knocking u, knocking the old system.

Well, it sounds to me that you are knocking "us guys". I've always played 100% by Ohio State's rules/policies when buying football tickets. I'm grandfathered into the alumni season ticket program based on my consecutive years of buying tickets (i.e. "back then" it was 15). I don't consider myself "lucky"; I just consider myself "old enough" to have benefitted from the official Ohio State Athletic Ticket Office rules/policies of the 1980s. I've always been limited to 2 tickets per game and have never heard of any alumni (in the same ticket buying category that I'm in) being able to buy 4 tickets (in a row) per game. Yes, I guess, as more people in the "grandfathered alumni season ticket" category die off their tickets become available for others, etc. However, I don't think it will free up any more seats for the Presidents Cub/Buckeye Club members. since I have ALWAYS ended up with end zones seats (i.e. never in the field of play and usually they have actually been behind the end zone). My seats will go into the "average Joe" alumni group (i.e. alumni that get to buy 2 tickets to one game, etc.). Besides I've never heard of anyone being denied Presidents/Buckeye Club membership due to lack of tickets. If you donate the required amount, tickets have always been and will continue to be available.

If you want to "knock" any group of Ohio State football ticket holders, I suggest that you consider:

a. the state politicians that get prime location tickets for free.

b. Ohio State faculty members that get to purchase "reduced price" season tickets in prime locations (i.e. between the 20 yard lines, etc.). In addition they don't pay extra for parking as just just park in a "facility" parking spot, etc. Personally I don't begrudge the faculty being given an employment perk of being able to buy tickets; however, I do think that they should be required to pay full price for them and they shouldn't automatically get seats in the prime locations. Maybe, offer them end zone seats for the first 15 years, seats between the end zone and 20 for the next 15 years, and prime location seats after 30 years of service, etc. However, that is just my opinion.

c. I'm not sure what the current ticket policy is for Ohio State staffers. However, I know in "years past" Ohio State staff members got to buy "reduced price" tickets too; but their seats were not in the prime locations (which wouldn't effect ticket availability for Presidents/Buckeye Club members).

Hey (seriously) thanks for setting the record straight on faculty and staff tickets. Apparently I've not kept current on the policy for their tickets. Upon further review I found the official current policy:

However, my point to flathismyhero still stands. The "long time purchasers" do not get prime location seats and are not the only people that can purchase season tickets at a discounted rate without donating to the Presidents/Buckeye Club (i. e. certain facility/staff can too).

FWIW, the current official "long time purchasers" policy:

Long Time Purchasers
A group of individuals who were awarded full season football tickets based on their consecutive years of purchase in the 1980s. No new customers have been added or will be added to this purchasing group. Because no donation to the university is made, LTPs fall under these policies:

? Are eligible to purchase 2 full season football tickets at public prices. The ordering period is in March.
? Must purchase tickets with payment made in their own name. Tickets paid for with cash, money order, or payment in another individual's name will be held at will-call.
? If original ticket holder passes away, tickets may be transferred to surviving spouse ONCE. No other family member may assume ownership of season tickets.
? Eligibility for tickets will be verified after all applications are received during the March ordering period. Any customers deemed ineligible will be refunded their season ticket purchase price and their account will be marked inactive.
? LTPs must order tickets each year in order to be eligible for tickets the following year.
