Getting Out of a Lease?

Holy shit! So, you pay damn near $30K for a truck that you have to turn back in at the end of 4 years?

A truck like that would likely be a target for auto thieves...so be careful. They like to take expensive vehicles like that out for joy rides, and when they're done with their fun they end up torching them out in the middle of nowhere...leaving you having to file a claim with your insurance company.
:wink2:

Thanks, boys. I figured I was f-ed without lube on this one. Did it to myself. The truck is a $50k truck, so paying $30k for it is the price of luxury. Oh well, mark this one up for a vote for Dumbass of the Year. That would've been for 2005, though. Guess I'll have to suck it up and make due, unless I get lucky on a lease web site. :smash:

Hope you saw the thread I bumped for you yesterday about "People who lease cars."

If not, check it out.

I said this before, but I would check with the dealer and see if they would take it back and let you lease something else. I'm sure there will be some fees and you probably won't get the best value out of a new lease, but you can probably get something that pulls twice the MPG.

as well as the $595 payment to move the lease to the new leasee.

ummm............. are you sure you didn't give us your apartment lease payment in error..? thats WITH insurance right..?

The big gas guzzlers aren't moving off car lots. You can steal a Hummer if you want right now!

interesting... with the fuel options a diesel brings to the table, i might have to look into that..

Yeah, we're actually friends with the guy that sold us the car. He said GMAC would charge us an arm and a leg for that at this point. He suggested waiting until 1/2 way through the term. I appreciate the ideas, though. Looks like I'm toast. Just have to really watch what I spend as gas prices soar.
:osu: Go Bucks?! :)

I was able to get out of a predatory lease back in college by arranging the timely introduction of my Mitsubishi with an OSU CABS bus--totaled the car, ripped up the lease, got everything I'd paid back in cash. Thank goodness for OSU T&P's low hiring standards!
