Gettin' serious bout some HOT WINGS

BigWoof31

"Barkin' up the wrong tree"
Alright - so I work with this guy who's a buckeye fan and Ohio U alum. He's from North Canton and I went to happy hour with last friday. We were pounding brews and decided to split an order of hot wings. Then he starts going on and on about some joint north of columbus that makes great wings. I've paraphrased the conversation below:

Friend: OH MAN - If you're ever in Ohio, find out where the nearest Quaker State is and GO. Their wings are awesome.
BigWoof: You crazy bastard. Quaker State is a Motor oil, not a purveyor of spicy meat foods.
F: Nah Brah! It's a real restaurant. Best wings ever!
BW: I still say bullshit -but I'll confirm with my sources on the interwebs.

So I check it out and yes it's real -but is it as good as he says?

It's good, not great.

In the battle of big wing chains, I prefer Buffalo Wild Wings. They have spicy garlic. Quaker Steak does have some good sauces though, no doubt about it. I like the buttery ranch, or whatever it's called.

I think it's pretty good, but not something that should be famous. I don't go out of my way for their wings, and they're overpriced.

I'm not sure it makes my top-3 for wings in the area.

I don't know what my top 3 in this area is, but I can confirm that it does not include Quaker Steak & Lube.

Winking Lizard, BWW & Roosters... in that order for me (in part due to cost). Lizard's wings are pretty good for 40 cents on M/T (even better when they were 20 or 30 cents for MNF), and usually bigger than BW's.

Can't beat the all you can eat Tuesday night at the Lube. From living near the point of origin of BW3 and the Lube I give the Lube the award for better wings. BW3 is a better bar, but I've been pissed at them ever since they stopped 50 cent leg Wednesday. Now wings are damn near 50 cents at BW3 on wing night. Freaking rip off.

I've never heard of Winking Lizard.. where is it?

If I had to make a top 3.. Pharaoh's Pizza (late-night delivery with good sauce), BWW (spicy garlic, hot waitresses), Rusty Bucket or Old Bag of Nails.

Now that I think about it, Quaker Steak & Lube is probably near the bottom of my favorites in the area. I guess that means it's not a favorite at all.

Lizard is mostly based in the Cleveland/Akron area, but I think there is at least one in C-bus. Never had the wings there.
The Lube was better back when I was in college and we would road trip to Sharon PA for wing night. Maybe my memories are better than what the Lube is now, but back then they were the best.
