Georgia Tech +6.5 vs tOSU (ov/un 133.5) Sun 2:20 ET, CBS

All of the upsets I think will benefit this team. If they were watching yesterday, they know that any team can jump up and bite the big boys in the ass these days, and they'll know they have to play lights out to avoid the same fate that befell Kansas and Villanova.

This team will come in mentally ready for the challenge, and Coach Matta will have a game plan to make their big guys try to run with our guards, which they don't have a prayer of doing.

GO BUCKS!!!

GT coaches and players were in the stands for the UCSB game. They watched Turner get double teamed, which led Diebler open for 7-11 from 3 pt land. I dont see them doubling Turner today which will free him up alittle bit, to drive and kick the ball out.

Just thought I'd drop my thoughts on the game today.

First let me say that I'll be cheering for the Buckeyes today. For a number of reasons, I have lost all of my respect for Coach Paul Hewitt. Meanwhile, I have gained a lot of respect for Coach Thad Matta.

This game actually could be very dangerous for Ohio State. I don't think it will be necessary for Georgia Tech to double team in order to "contain" Evan Turner. Iman Shumpert has really come on strong for Tech as a defender. You've obviously heard a lot about our big men (Favors and Lawal). They obviously will cause some trouble and I would be shocked if they weren't our two leading scorers.

In my opinion, the game comes down to Shumpert and Turner. Shumpert is 6-5, quick, and probably one of the best defensive matches for Turner in the entire tournament. Our big men (mentioned above and Peacock) should be able to create points down low.

Take it for what it's worth. I've watched nearly every Georgia Tech game and Ohio State game this season.

Oh...and look for Lighty to have a big game. If I had to guess - I'd put money on him being Ohio State's leading scorer today.

Turner tends to do better against big, athletic defenders as opposed to small scrappy defenders. I'd put my money on him being our leading scorer. If Buford shows up today, we'll be in good shape. And I'm not talking about offense, he is probably our 2nd best defender when he wants to be.
Turner takes care of the ball and gets to the rack.
Lighty plays lights out on defense
If Buford is getting his usual numbers, playing solid defense and Jonny Buckets is hittin, the Buckeyes will be able to control this game despite Ga Tech's size.
Lets go Buckeyes!!!:oh:

Yeah Buford should be solid today.

I wouldn't worry at all about the Buckeyes on defense. We are a disaster on offense. There will be times today when you wonder if we've ever practiced/played as a team on any offensive plays/schemes.

I know what you're saying about Turner and guards but trust me. He hasn't play anyone quite like Shumpert in that regard. (Don't mistake that as he hasn't played anyone as good or better - because he definitely has!). ET will find his points but I really dont think the Buckeyes can rely on him taking over today - they'll have to rely on other matchups (lighty, buford, diebler).

i think the game rests on three things:

1. lauderdale's minutes. he must not get two early fouls. he must play at least 30 minutes. furthermore, when he is out, the team must not give up too much ground. even uscb capitalized on madsen's presence.

2. outside shooting. diebler, buford, and lighty need to hit at least or about 40% from three-point range.

3. turner's mid-range game. lawal and favors present a substantial hindrance to turner getting all the way to the bucket. turner's mid-range jumper must be on, and he must recognize when a kickout/dump-off is the play rather than pressing the drive through too much traffic.

dj richardson from illinois would be shumpert's closest reference in regards to a defender that turner has faced. shumpert has a couple inches on richardson, so the pressure from one player may be even greater than what turner has faced this season. as i stated in my previous post, turner must recognize the pass before the pressure is too great. after friday's game, i do worry that turner will try to prove himself at the risk of the team's goals.

If the bolded happens we win by 20. 40% from three guys outside will be devastating for Georgia Tech.

I may have scarlet goggles on but he seems to smart and mature for it. Plus you have a good coach who can remind him of what is more important.
i agree; although, i do think that friday's game was one of turner's worst of the season in regards to recognition of pressure.
