Drew Lavender didn't have his normal blinding quickness against Georgia, but he still led Xavier to victory.
More than 20 years ago, when pubs had more dartboards (two) than televisions, ESPN used to throw a little party.
The network held the rights to the early rounds of the NCAA Tournament because nobody else thought to make a bid. The chief flack -- Mike Soltys, there at the beginning, still there now -- would open a room for a throng of lucky guests. He would roll in a cart of hot corned beef and point to a tub of ice in the corner, and in the tub were things to drink.
