I agree that they are probably overated at this time. They seem to have top 5 talent, but they lack something. I have only seen them play a couple of times this year, so I'm not sure what it is that they lack.
Speculation on what is lacking
Lack of heart, toughness, killer instinct? They seem to let lesser teams stay in the game with them and seem to not have enough fortitude to get back into games late when they're behind. Jeff Green was a warrior, he is definitely missed.
Lack of inside presence to help Hibbert? I know they have some solid athletic big men to go with big Roy, but from what I've seen (albeit little) the big guys prefer to be perimeter oriented instead of helping out inside.
Hibbert too nice a guy/player? With his size and skill set (I know he is not overly athletic) he needs to crush guys inside, just turn and dunk on them, and always get good deep position, as I can't think of anyone this side of the NBA who Roy couldn't back down under the hoop.
Coaching? Thompson Jr would not be the first son of a legend to live off his fathers success, I know he has done pretty well for himself, so I don't know if he is overrated or not.
Discipline to play Jr's system? I really figured that Georgetown was going to be a beast using the Princeton offense with great size and athletecism, yet they do seem to be underwhelming, maybe their players don't like the system and would rather play more of a pro style of take the ball and beat their man.
Nice topic to help get us through this slow sports season.
