Geocaching

Anybody here doing this? I have heard about it for years and finally looked into it as my oldest reached an age where "treasure hunting" is something fun we can do together. Great way to get out and exploring with the kids.

These things are everywhere! When I first looked at the map on geocaching.com, it turned out there was one hidden about 100 feet from my office. I spent my lunch breaks one week finding about 20 of these around OSU campus.

It took off when I was in Oregon. My wife's brother-in-law was big into it. I've thought about it, but haven't looked yet.
Is there one particular App that's best?

Geocaching.com has a free "intro" app that shows caches nearby, and the site has a free sign-up to see the full map. I ran a search of caches within 20 miles of OSU that been found/logged within the previous week, and it came back with like 565.

I walked the trails at Highbanks with my girls and found 3 out in the woods. And it seems like every tiny cemetery in Ohio has a geocache stashed by a fencepost somewhere.

I had never heard of it, so I had to look it up.
I spend enough time looking for my golf ball in the woods, and I don't even go golfing very much.
