First, I apologize for using the wrong moniker. It was indeed "Diver" not Driver." Second, I don't believe I ever said anyone was racist. It would be absurd to say that on a message board never having met someone, and I don't believe I was implying that I thought someone was racist (b/c I didn't). I was however alarmed to read someone quote a post that IMHO implied and intimated that Gene Smith had only one good quality, "he was black." I also voiced my disagreement with the statement in the aforementioned "Divers" post that he was only hired because of Karen Holbrook's political correctness and/or affinity for affirmative action. As far as the revisionists history portion of my post, I agree that my intended functional usage of the phrase revisionist history as an exemplar of a process by which past events are revised to suit currents beliefs did not completely hold based on the framing of the previous discussion. For the revisionist history claim, I was referring to the statement that Gene Smith was hired (past historical event) because he was a Notre Dame shyster, suited "Karen Holbrook's political correctness" and affinity for affirmative action candidates (e.g., a belief in Divers post that was made current by the quoting of his post). I do agree that the phrase revisionist history did not necessarily speak to the heart of my post. I should have said confirmation bias instead of revisionist history. Thus, the heart of my comment was directed at the fact that another poster was quoting "Divers" comments as proof of the incompetence of Gene Smith. By the way, I also went on to say that Gene Smith deserves to be fired, but that it is easy to use internal biases (...of any type including confirming one's previous opinions) to substantiate claims when they are convenient to do so. Furthermore, being called a dipshit on a message board reminded me why I rarely post on this board even though I enjoy reading the majority of what is said. With that said, Go Bucks.

Of all the dumb moves Smith has made this might be the absolute worst. You went all the way back to 2007? Seriously? Stick an intern on this and let them dig back 20 years. Inexcusable.
How does this guy still have a job???????????????

If true, inexcusable is the exact word. Ridiculous, unbelievable, wtf are also words/phrases that apply, but for now disappointment seems to be my mindset.

The next Gene Smith presser I want to see is him announcing his resignation and admitting he lost control of the football program if he ever had control. If Joe Pa and JT have shown us anything the day of emperor coach needs to be over ..a strong athletic director and department is neccessary to keep little things from unraveling. Like covering for your top assistant after having evidence dating back to 1997 that he has issues.

We are all judged at our jobs by how we handle difficult situations. At 1.3 million a year, any yardstick will see that Gene is an absolute failure in dealing with adversity. The added fact that we have a beefy compliance department that cant find the time to pull the thumb out of their a$% to do their job properly means its time to clean house.
