I view this as a "Green" hire. The tee-peing of Toomers Corner after a win was an environmentally unsound and resource wasting tradition that the Chizik hire will no doubt curtail.

Some coaches are better as coordinators than head coaches. I can see them hiring someone who has ties to Auburn, but I think it would have better to hire some who has actually won as a head coach.

Oh yes, NFBuck's talks of how the recruiting has dropped off - certainly looks that way.

Current ranking for Iowa State's 13 strong class - 78th (and not certain to improve now that Chizik is gone, what with it being late in the recruiting season). This leaves them looking up at Tulsa with bragging rights over MAC and Sun Belt teams.

Ironically, this makes Chizik's class for '09 in Auburn the best he will have seen since he was an assistant at Texas.

If the Auburn fans are up in arms now, imagine how they will be with classes outside the top-25 in coming years. There is, of course, no guarantee things will be anything like that bad.
