Not so fast my friend!

I don't know how Nutria feels, but I'd hate to give up the annual opportunity to talk about our winning record in Death Valley with my LSU friends. :sneaky:
Back when it became apparent we were going to 14 teams I said there were
3 teams I didn't want to lose from our annual schedule. Bama, Auburn, Florida.

To a lesser extent, ole piss is in that category as well.

do NOT want to see the annual Florida game go away.

Gator, back when the league split into two divisions, do you remember why it was decided that LSU and UF would play every year? Was it simple luck of the draw?

Outside of Bama and the 2 dwarves from Mississippi, we've played uf more than any other sec school.
Every year since 71 and all but 3 years since 53.

Now, thanks to our shit licking AD were probably going to be stuck with usce as our permanent foe.

Fitting that a pussy like Joe Alleva will hooks us up with the Cocks.

The peripheral interview to Matt Hayes'...um, hard hitting expos? on Urban Meyer...with Gators' coach Will Muschamp.

http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-fo...-gators-urban-meyer-steve-spurrier-recruiting

I object, your honor! Leading the interviewee!

SN: Is it fair to say six losses is a disastrous season?

MUSCHAMP: Disappointing, disastrous, whatever adjective you want to throw on it. There are Gator fans that could probably think of some worse ones. People want to look at our year and say you were 7-6? Really, let?s look at the last two years: we?re a 15-11 team. Let?s be realistic here. Urban Meyer is a heckuva football coach; he won two national championships here. But there was a one-game difference from this year to (his) last year. We?re in transition. Are we headed in the right direction? I emphatically think we are.

SN: How can a program like Florida have only two players invited to the NFL Combine?

MUSCHAMP: I don?t have a good answer. It is what it is. A lot of times you find out what kind of football team you had in April when they have the (NFL) draft.

SN: Is it fair to say that?s a good indicator of what you walked into, what you were left by the previous staff?

MUSCHAMP: It is what it is.

SN: Florida didn?t have an All-SEC selection for the first time since 1971. Is it fair to say that?s a good indicator of what you walked into?

MUSCHAMP: The numbers speak for themselves. I always look at the difference between reality and perception. Sometimes perception isn?t always what reality is.

Florida cuts computer science, adds $2M to athletics

Economic factors have made for difficult choices in the realm of higher education. The University of Florida announced this past week that it was dropping its computer science department, which will allow it to save about $1.7 million. The school is eliminating all funding for teaching assistants in computer science, cutting the graduate and research programs entirely, and moving the tattered remnants into other departments. ... Meanwhile, the athletic budget for the current year is $99 million, an increase of more than $2 million from last year. The increase alone would more than offset the savings supposedly gained by cutting computer science.

Smart idea cutting computer science first. Hell, no one is going to be using those in the next century, why bother ensuring that your institution of higher learning has a top notch program capable of pumping out students into the work force trained using a product that no one uses?

The budget for athletics and the budget for academics have nothing to do with each other. Different entities. I'm sure yours operates that way as well. Most successful programs are organized in a way that athletics are separate from the Univeristy operating budget. So, no, no funds were taken from CS and given to athletics.

The idiots at UF are in an Engineering Dept power struggle over the massive cuts to education caused by the economy. Florida has no state income tax, and the loss of sales tax revenue is horrific. The computer science department is being "reorganized" and merged with other engineering departments. They are taking research faculty and making them teach. They are cutting Grad Assistants. It is incredibly bone-headed, but it is not so much a desire to get rid of computer sciences as it is a political power struggle within the engineering department and university overall over who gets to eat the shit sandwich of cuts to education funding. CS had the least political juice in the battle. And, yes, it is an incredibly stupid result. Hopefully the bad press about it will bring about some better solution.
