Gary Gearhart

Does anybody about Gary Gearhart?
I have been talking with him lately and had no idea he played basketball back in the 59-60-61-62 time frame.
He roomed with Bobby Knight.
How well did he do? I was born in University hospital at the time.

I remember him as mainly a good role player (i.e substitute). He was never the star/"go to" player. He was in the Lucas/Havlicek recruitment class. He did play in the 1960, 1961, and 1962 Championship games. You can see the box scores at the following site:

What a wonderful name from the past. He did come off the bench but he came off early (right behind Knight) on one of the best teams in College BBall history.

Give him a big hug from a life long fan and let him know he is still remembered by an aging 9 year old.

My parents are good friends with John Cedargren from the same team. And I worked with Rich Hoyt for years.
I didn't put the connection together with the three until just this week.
I spent the weekend in a vacation home Gary owns in Michigan (can you believe that) and he had all the awards and paraphernalia from the time in the cabin. Until I saw those I had no Idea Gary even played. I called my father and mother from the cabin and they knew who he was immediately. Was really neat but I teased him for not saying a word. Guess I should have know although I was born at the time.
He is a super guy. Wouldn't let me pay a dime for the use of his home.
