Bought one last Friday at the Navy Exchange for $340 (list is $376, sans shipping). I've recorded one quick test run and uploaded it to their site, where I could view a trace of the entire route on a Google satellite map. Cool as shit. Also has a heart-rate monitor so you can track your cardio progress (which I'm going to need after a beer-drenched football season).

Anyone else have one? Fols? Steve19?

let me get this straight. you can wear this thing around and it leaves your path that you went on a google map? thats pretty cool

Yep. Well, actually you upload the data and it plots a trace of the entire route...it doesn't trace it in real time. Still, it's pretty shit-hot to have your entire run/bike route outlined on a satellite map. Next time I upload a run/bike workout I'll get a screen capture of the map (the "free" account that comes with the GPS unit doesn't allow you to save workout data and display it to the public...their "full" account does).

    I had an "early" Garmin.
Does the wrist model have any sat capture issues?
That has been a problem in city and forested areas.
Neat "toy"! Kind of pricey.

How did you do in the "Tinman"?

This new one is supposed to have a very sensitive receiver and claims to being able to sync up well even in moderate to heavy tree cover and near tall buildings. The two times I've used it since Friday it synced up within a minute of power-on...of course my driveway has a totally unimpeded view of the sky. One of our training routes we'll be running starts from a spot in Kapiolani Park that is under tree cover and is at the foot of Diamond Head, so I'll note how quick in syncs up there.

As for the price, as soon as my lazy ass gets around to mailing in the $50 rebate coupon my total cost will drop to about $273.

The run of the Tinman last summer kicked my ass again, so I know what to work hard for this next one...
