Gaming and Ohio State (some questions).

Hello all.

Does Ohio State have any sort of gaming gathering at specific times, or casual gaming teams with LAN parties and that sort of thing?

I'm new here and was wondering.

Another thing, is there a team of guys who make games here? Even if they're only small games, is there a place where complete noobies at making games can go to get some sort of experience making games that may help them get into the game industry or at the very least learn something about making a game?

Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: Also games I'd particularly like to play with others would be Team Fortress 2, and COD4 (though I suck pretty bad at COD4). I was good at CS:S too, but quit it completely after TF2 came out.

No one has ever come forward and said they make games here. I am sure someone knows some people in the gaming industry.

If you can't find one on campus - why not start one?

I have them both on PC. Actually as of right now, I have no consoles. Left them back home when I came here.

Anyway, there has to be some sort of place, like an internet cafe of sorts where people play games right? You know this being the biggest University and that sort of thing.

I'm sure some of the game stores have tournaments, they did in Zanesville so I'd imagine they would in Columbus as well. They were terribly advertised, though. I'm pretty sure I've seen a tournament or two advertised on the bulletin boards around campus, maybe one written in chalk on the oval's sidewalks.

I just searched OSU's Student Activites & Organizations and there were a couple RPG/board game groups, and one inactive PC gaming group. So you could start one if you wanted. I was surprised that there wasn't an active gaming group.

With 40-50 thousand undergrad or whatever it is, you'll find a group of people doing whatever you want to do.

There's a group for hooking up with meth-head midget transsexuals?

I've never really used facebook before, but I'll check it out some time.

Just out of curiosity, how does one go about starting a gaming club/group exactly?

I wasn't aware that you could be in college, but not have a facebook account.

But seriously, make one. All the cool kids do it. :tongue2:
