As if he needed anymore reason then the fact it's us vs them for the first time ever, with the unveiling of his sign to forever watch over Ohio Field, I believe Woody will be there representing Saturday evening in the Cathedral of College Ball.

This got me thinking. What would the old man say if he had a pre-game interview? Drudged up some quotes that I thought fit the bill.

"You will win on Saturday. You will have to do what we have planned to do all week, but essentially you will win because you are Ohio State and they will respect you for that. They know what we do and they will respect you, and I'll tell you something else! That respect soon turns to fear, and by the time we've hit them three or four times in that first quarter they know they can't win." :osu:

"We have more than 85,000 seats in our stadium and every one of them is filled every game. People from all over the state, no matter what their politics or religion or color, they love and rally round the Buckeyes."

"Unbiased, hell. We're Ohio State guys and don't you ever forget it."--to a broadcast partner who praised a Michigan play.

"Perfect preparation prevents piss-poor performance."

"We had a secret agreement among ourselves that anyone who mentioned roses would get a punch in the nose--unless it was a lady over eighty."--

"What do you mean upset? It's never an upset if the so-called underdog has all along considered itself the better team."

"A football team improves more between the first and second games, than any other time of the season."

"The will to win is not as important as the will to prepare to win."

"Whoever wins the second half wins the game."

"You can't win the national championship if you don't win your own schedule."

"Success--it's what you do with what you've got."

"The thing you have to do is go back each year and review what actually wins for you. You'll find it's the discipline on your squad and your morale and how you handle your players and how well you bring them along. Those are the things on which you win, rather than all the technical ideas that all of us have."

"The only smarts I have are that I'm smart enough to know I can outwork 'em. If I can work a little harder, and we can be a little better prepared than the other guy, then we'll make luck come our way. Darrell Royal says that luck is when preparation meets opportunity, and he's about right. If you get kids to believe that, you've really got something going."

"The height of human desire is what wins, whether it's on Normandy Beach or in Ohio Stadium."

"Nothing that comes easy in this world is worth a damn."

Gotta love the old man. Six of us will be dressed up like 'ole Woody in 13c row 5. Give a glance our way and then tip your hat to the sky, he'll be there watching.

geesh man...got me a lil teared up..nice post

I'm just worried I won't have any voice left after the 1st quarter cuz of how loud i'll be. If I lose my voice i'll just start banging on things!

I'm taking it easy until the game actually starts. Last year against scUM, I kinda lost it early from screaming for the band and when the team ran on the field. I need my voice for the 4th quarter, so I'll temper my pregame screaming a little this time to keep the vocal cords for the game. (this, of course, all pre-supposes I will have any control left by the time I enter the stadium. I may wet my pants when the band comes out for this game). :)

Oh my gosh Mastiff, that is the worst thing I've ever seen!

Hopefully nobody comes down with carpal tunnel after cleaning up your huge mess...

For shame... :shake:

(Edit: please go easy on me, big fellas, I'm just playing!)

Here's any easy solution. Don't click on it then. The title was pretty clear. You know there are several threads I don't open because they don't interest me.

By the way, I didn't see the other threads. That's why I posted it...Dickhead.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt because of the smiley, but I will say it's bad form to insult someone after YOU broke forum rules. With how busy the board has been lately (and will surely remain), the last thing we want is numerous threads on the same topic cluttering up the forum. I went ahead and merged this with the existing thread.

Everyone, keep in mind there is a VERY user-friendly search forum. Please use it before starting ANY new thread, as duplicates will instigate the ire of the veteran posters, along with creating more work for the mod's.

I have personally been guilty of this as well, so I'm not calling anybody out...but let's try to keep this in mind because the boards are so busy.

The biggest key is our lines. They are going up against the best lines in the country. I don't think we are going to be able to win the battle at the line of scrimmage...cuz if we do the games over...but I think our guys have it in them to neuturalize what Texas is trying to do with their lines. If we can do that, and have an even battle up front, our back 7 on defense and our recievers and backfield on offense match-up perfect against them and we will win those matchups. Their lines match up better than ours. I just hope that with A TON OF CROWD noise, and extra preperation, that we are able to neuturalize that.

A secondary key is open field tackling. We taclked really well last Saturday. We need to keep it up.
