Game Thread Game Seven: Ohio State 41, Indiana 10 (final)

Youboty's hip flexor injury further stirs the pot about Ginn at CB. I bet Ashton will be ready to go, but he won't be at 100%.

Either way, this game is going to be very ugly. We have been creating good holes for the running game all year long. Pittman has not been stopped yet, except by fatigue or lack of carries. I think we finally see Maurice Wells again this week, and that will be a very good thing.

This game is in the bag, stupid clucko over at CFN even picked us, and 99% of the time he picks the underdog.

I distinctly remember Holmes and a few others running their mouths off in pre-game interviews... If anything, I'd say the fans were more worried about this game than the players.
running your mouth a little doesn't guarantee that you are overlooking a team. Do we run our mouths against Michigan? Sure, but we obviously come prepared for taht one. We got beat b/c we didn't execute, not b/c we were too cocky.

How can the coin flip hit the underdog 99% of the time? :wink2:

Just got done watching 2003 Ohio State @ Indiana. It was funny watching Lydell Ross. Early in the game he was seeing holes, and making people miss. Then on a few runs, where he had holes, he looked like the old Lydell Ross that just ran into his O-line. There were such HUGE holes on every play, that he had to hit them some of the time.

That's because Indiana was running some stupid 2-5 defense. You don't think you can open some huge holes when your OL is blocking only two down linemen? However came up with that scheme needs to get tested for illegal substances...

I agree, running against a 4-2-5 was really easy, and we just played power football to it all night...it's not like we needed to out coach IU to win that game, but we sure did. Although, we did pass for almost 400 yards against it too. There is now doubt that they are a better coached team now...but honestly...Terry Hoepner left more talent at Miami than he has at Indiana.

If Miami played Indiana , Miami would blow them out! But this is our offense against them! We're so predictable. Can we really just line up and blow them off the ball all game? I doubt it! We will have to use our speed guys to win this game! And not give up the ball!

Let's not forget that in order to win the Big 10, the Bucks need to win this game. But, in the bigger picture, they need a "big" win. This is the type of game that you build off of. An explosive offensive (did I really type that?) showing will be critical, not only for our confidence, but to send a message to the rest of the Big 10. Things to look for:

1. The number of punts - it better be low for us and high for them. If we are not sustaining drives against IU, it does not bode well for the upcoming games. Defensively, we must crush their spirit immediately. No long drives against us, and especially no busts for easy TD's.

2. New Faces - if we are seeing people we haven't seen for awhile, that's a good sign. Business has been taken care of by the starters, egos of the young and displaced can be stroked, and everyone feels good about contributing to victory.

3. Spread the wealth - hopefully everyone gets their share of touches. If only four guys touch the ball on offense this week - ouch.

Let's hope that we get off to fast start, look sharp, get everyone involved, rest those who need it, and leave with the W.

Will there be focus this week? I just don't see a offensive explosion this week like some do.

Before the season I said Troy Smith would be a Heisman candidate this year because the offense would explode.

I was wrong! On both counts!

Smith hasn't progressed and the offense turns the ball over way to much.

Frankly I'm horrified at QB play! Thank God for the line progress. The "O" line is making our run game go, finally! We have a good running back. Just in time for Big Ten weather.

Are we so bad on offense we can't afford to give Zwick one series a game? :shake:

If Zwick was worth a series a game at QB, I think the coaches would know about it. Something tells me if JZ was the starter, and OSU was 4 - 2 Troy Smith would be the more popular QB among the two.

Anyway.... GAMEDAY! Some people find it hard to get amped up for Indiana. I say screw those people... lets get it on! Any Buckeye football, against any opponant is the greatest 3 to 4 hours of my week.
