Was it just me, or was Malcolm Jenkins lined up as a Safety on a few plays?
Yep, but that was expected from some recent interviews. Click 'search' above, type jenkins safety, and search by post for more info.

For a first game with all the youngsters we had I was pleased. I think that JT did everything he wanted to do and played everyone he wanted to play.
I was pleasantly surprised by the play of some of the frosh. I also think that the starters were not in long enough to establish any continuity and that held them down somewhat.
I think That Todd made himself the unquestionable starter at Qb.
I Think that Dane did what I have been saying he would do.
All In all a good effort both from a team standpoint and a Coaching one.

yeah I'm probably being a bit critical of Dane but I heard from someone that went to the Scrimmage that #12 (Dane) was having troubles catching the ball. Gosh All's I know is once we scored that first TD I almost said out loud "YEEAAAA GONZO!!!"

I swear the kid looks and plays just like Gonzo

I felt the same as I watched him. Let him settle in and work on catching those "bullets" - he's going to be a great one.

Was the O-Line just having trouble today or was it a combo of O-line and Beanie not punching through?

I had to listen to the game and the amount of goal-line rushes for no gain was scary to keep hearing.

I think it was partially due , if not a lot, to them not playing as a unit a lot yet. That consistancy will come .

So the three freshman receivers, Clifford and Saine showed up in the stat sheet and Heyward got some tick. Any other true freshmen get in?

EDIT: The report on YSU's site has Scott and Rolle playing as well.

I thought for the short series Henton was out there HE looked solid in the pocket. Both his throws were on the money the first dropped though. I thought he stood in the pocket better than Robby. I have a feeling he's going to be a gamer. I wasn't overly impressed with DLine. Rose did have the one nice pressure. I'm not sure we'll know much about the D until probably MSU which just got a heck of a lot scarier.

Being the first game and all I was not too concerned. We have a lot of time to work on the few issues before our schedule gets tougher. YSU is no slouch either, they are not a division one team, but they play good solid fundamental football.
