So, if your Pass D plays bend don't break they're worse? Scoring stats seem to tell a different story.

Thought you'd see it my way on the OU thing....

104th in the league in passing D is terrible, any way you cut it.

So, you think the extra 50 ypg negates the lower ppg? Last time I checked, it's what's on the scoreboard that counts. And there's usually more than a 50-ypg disparity between "awful" and "stellar" defenses.

This will be hands down the best defense in the MAC. All 3 linebackers all stars and will be playing in the NFL. Three of the front 4 are seniors with great experience. Those 3 in Marcus Johnson, Craig Mester and Tranaine Sills might be the three best pass rushers in the MAC. That gives you the best front 7 in the MAC. Maybe it won't rival the Nittany Lions, but this will be a great defense. You can't ask for a much better front 7. Add to this that the secondary returns All-MAC corner Darrell Hunter and gets safeties Steve Burke and Joey Card back from hand injuries. This is a fast corps deep at corner.

Bowling Green
The loss of active end Mitchell Crossley means Devon Parks and Brad Williams have to become major players on the end. There wasn't too much of a steady pass rush last year considering all the talent the line had, and that helped contribute to the nation's 104th ranked pass defense by not getting to the quarterback enough. Only one LB returns, Teddy Piepkow who was the team's 2nd leading tackler lat year. The pass defense was flat-out awful at times last year finishing 104th in the nation allowing 259.5 yards per game. Corners Jelani Jordan and Terrill Mayberry returning to their starting spots, there's hope for improvement.

Let me retract a bit and say...this defense looks like it WILL BE stellar and the class in the MAC.

Great may be a bit too nice. They have 1 good player in their secondary.........the rest are suspect. The do have great LB's, but to say that all 3 will be playing in the NFL is overkill. They have 2 good defensive ends.....one returning from an all MAC campaign. The other end played more and more as last season progressed........but he his all or nothing statistically. Their defensive tackles are not good......thats it plain and simple. So I find it a little puzzling how you would give the front 7 so much love as a whole.

If you define this as stellar........then I can't wait to play Texas...........

BG is the best team offensively in the MAC, over all the best team might be NIU or Miami, Toledo has a new DC(former Miami HC, Rose.)

I'll back up a score, I think towards the end JT will put in the second team, and Miami will score against them, that adds at least 7 points to the score, making is a little closer than before. They won't fall for the BG trap, and nearly lose as a team storms down the field against a 2nd team...

In short, I do think Miami will lose, but I still don't think the score will be 50's or 60's. You can't convince me otherwise.

As for Miami's D...I'll say they aren't as good as Ohio State, but they can keep up for a bit.

UO(University of Oklahoma) is overrated, like a few other teams, while some aren't ranked high enough. It's the system.

Oh, and I really liked the preview on the front, very well written. Good stuff!

Defensive comparison, against I-A opponents, between BG's "awful" defense and MU's "stellar" defense:

BG: 24.7 ppg. Four highest scores against: 49, 40, 35, 35.
MU: 24.8 ppg. Four highest scores against: 45, 43, 35, 33.

Took me a sec to track this down. Its easy for you to skew the facts Milani. As for Bowling Green, nothing like Ball State, Temple, and SE Missour State to pad your numbers.

Overkill? Phil Steele thinks this is the best unit in the MAC and all 3 LB's are glorious. I'd trust his opinion any day.

When it counted, they're defense was terrible, but they had a pansy ass scheduel that padded their numbers. What part of (paraphrasing here) "ok, I retract my statment. They're defense WILL BE stellar" do you not understand?

Toledo (49)
Marshall (35)
Memphis (35)

How do those games count more than the four game I listed for Miami? And their schedule wasn't any more pansy-assed than Miami's.
