Game Thread Game One: #1 Ohio State 35, Northern Illinois 12 (9/2/06)

Well it would be a definite sellout, so it certainly wouldn't hurt.

But Mili I don't think playing Michigan last year had any affect on our attendance, and unless we beat Ohio State, I don't think playing you will have any affet either.

I think if they go and put on a good showing on TV like they did in Ann Arbor last year it should help raise awareness and interest in the program, which could lead to higher home attendance. But if they lose like last year (1-3 to start I believe?) that will cancel any positive they got from playing with the big boys, like TCU beating Oklahoma and losing to SMU or Fresno State playing USC tight and losing the next 3 games.

From the niu board.
Except Alabama has a lot more football history than OSU does. Alabama has won 7 National Championships since 1960. OSU has won 2 in that same time period. Alabama (53 bowl games) has been to 17 more bowl games than OSU (37). Alabama has 30 bowl game wins and a winning record in bowl games, while OSU has 18 bowl wins and a losing record in bowl games. Even if we beat OSU, i still consider beating Alabama even greater because they are twice the football powerhouse that OSU is.
What a dumbfuck!

everyone talks about having only two returning starters on defense. Malcolm Jenkins had considerable playing time a year ago and Laurinaitis played in two of the biggest games of the year :osu3:
who is everyone? It's been discussed ad nauseum here on BP that there is a lot more experience returning (Patterson, Mitchell, Wilson, etc) than 2 starters would suggest

He is. I could have told you that before that post.

All I can say is WOW... Does he hate OSU so much that he is predisposed to make erroneous arguments when the Buckeyes are concerned or is he always like that?

Oh...and sorry for the Akron blast on the other board. Considering how the MACCG ended, it was kind of a low blow, even if epasnoopy opened the door...

I don't see how that thread went on as long as it did. Everybody else realizes that the Alabama we beat was not the Alabama of old. As for his point about OSU not necessarily being the best team in the country, that's true. They haven't played any games yet, so who the heck knows? Without a playoff, even after 12 games we won't necessarily know, but that's a different topic. Don't remind us about Akron, we'd just like to forget and pretend it never happened. :( Akron game? What Akron game?
