Game Thread Game One: #1 Ohio State 35, Northern Illinois 12 (9/2/06)

34-24 Buckeye. You kick a late field goal to ice it.

And I still say 35-0 at the half, G-Force. Guess one of us is about to be very disappointed!

And I guess, while we are sharing opinions, you believe Wolfe will be the best running back on the field when the teams play and will perform as such.

I think he will get a running clinic from Pittman and that Pitt and Wells will be the two best running backs on the field on the day.

I don't expect you to agree with me. I don't need a reaction, by the way. We know your opinion and now you know mine.

The only thing that will reveal who is right is the game and there is no need for further elaboration.

Not one time has myself or an NIU fan brought up anything about NIU that was positive and not have somebody say something negative about it. If it is about the game or the Buckeyes it is perfectly understandable for Buckeye fans to say something negative, but it is annoying when everythinhg is OMG NIU SUCKS BAAAAH.

I guess maybe that is what I should expect, but I would think your fans are better then that.

I think that it is rather unreasonable to expect a lot of respect for your claims about good seats in your stadium, when it has been discussed as resembling a high school stadium and rarely filled by its own team supporters.

Bucklion has given you some excellent advice. Focus your conversation on interaction with the people who want to talk football, not smack, and recognize opinions for what they are.

Remember something else, we have a vested interest in you guys doing well this year (i.e., our SOS!)

Your mixture of hyperbole and outright whining is a nice combination to read so early in the morning.

Your act is tiresome though...quit begging. If you don't like the people on this board, by all means feel free to leave. There are plenty of other forums where you can go beg for respect.

There are 12 days until kickoff...cut the whining and begging or go away.

Posts like this is why people have no respect for MAC schools. I'm an OU grad and probably one of the few that doesn't bitch and moan like 99% of the MAC for ruspekt. Just let the play on the field do the talking.

That and the fact that the MAC is 3-38 vs. the Big Ten since 2002...(shout-out to osugrad21 for the article in another post).
<O:p</O:p
I have said this on the NIU board and I will say it here:
<O:p</O:p
I believe that NIU is: (1) better than some teams in the Big Ten Conference (Illinois should be thanking the lord in heaven they don’t play them this year.); (2) well coached; (3) has a great running back; and (4) will not be intimidated by the Buckeyes on Sept. 2, 2006.
<O:p</O:p
Having said all that, I still believe OSU will prevail somewhere in the ballpark of 31-17. NIU is good, but OSU should be better. I know the Buckeye defense is young and will need to make some mistakes to learn and improve (much like in 2004), but the athletes on that defense will still be faster and better conditioned than what NIU has seen in the past (even Michigan). NIU may very well shock the world, but more likely than not, they will find themselves overwhelmed by speed and athleticism--much like <ST1:p<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Miami Univ.</ST1:p last year.

How about when somebody says something about NIU that is positive, you don't go baaaaaaaah you suck! We are better!

He was talking about our stadium and it had nothing to do with our team, and somebody still had something negative to say.

First, some people need to chill out. Why the hell do you (or anyone else) care what I say?

Second, I'd like for you to find a time when I said, "You suck," or "We are better." Well, I'll help you out on the second line: I believe that Ohio State is a better team than Northern Illinois is. But I never said, nor do I believe, that Northern Illinois sucks. I have nothing against Northern Illinois, and if their running back is as good as advertised, the Ohio State football team had better not take this game lightly.

Third, how do you know I wasn't bragging about my basement?
