This whole series has been based on Targaryen madness and specifically, people being around Dany to temper her bad impulses. You've seen hints of it in season 6 and 7 and the revelations with Jon, Jorah and Missandei's deaths just kicked open the door to what was already there. She's the product of incest, the road to insanity was never going to be a long one in either case.
All other things aside, like Arya not sticking with Hound or going for Cersei, I really was hoping that Jamie was going to put a blade in Cersei.
Overall, pretty epic in a Pompeii kinda way. I’m not the least bit surprised, or frankly even dissapointed, that Dany torched the Landing.
If I had to guess where things go from here, it’s going to be a happy ending for the Starks. Jon and Tyrion know that Dany needs to be taken out. We’ll see some internal struggle for Jon on that front and then he does what he needs to do. Tyron will become Jon’s hand.
No clue what they will do with the Greyworm story line. Seems like he’s being setup to be offed. Perhaps he meets his maker defending Dany?
Have to think through what they do with Arya. I do think that she’s destined, still, for some kind of greatness.
And Bran has yet to make a final appearance. Will be interesting to see how they tie him into all of this.
So, at this point we have primarily good guys left — some of whom may have gone off the deep end. But as I said, I expect the expected for the ending. Hope to be surprised in a few situations, but I’m not holding my breath.
To note: I wouldn’t necessarily be let down with getting what I expect, I just hope that they give me what I expect in an unexpected way.
If you accept that it was inevitable, than the criticism becomes that it was incredibly rushed to get to what was essentially mass genocide. And as I have said consistently, establishing that she might do something like that was fine and believable (see: Walter White parallel), which I said from the beginning.
But establishing why she decided to do it... it’s like they didn’t even try.
She destroys all of defenses easily, is sitting on her dragon in complete victory as the bells of the city ring in surrender... and then she decides to burn the city to the ground?
It just makes no sense at all.
Like I said earlier, it’d be like if Walter White pulled over on his way to save Jesse and shot up a convenience store.
It’s completely believable that he would do something like that in the narrative of the story, but without a motivation to do it, it still makes no sense why he would do it in that scenario.
Yeah, Daenerys and Walter have done really bad things in pursuit of their goals... it still doesn’t make sense for them to murder innocent people that in no way help them accomplish their goals.
Arya is gonna kill Dany.... she has yet to kill the green eyed person.....
LOL...it wasn't that bad...LOL.
I think you need to reset your expectations. It's a damn TV show...mindless entertainment made by computers and people playing pretend.
Eh... I think most are disappointed in that the show is on longer what it once was... it gave sci-fi/fantasy fans and nerds a chance at one of the greatest TV shows of all time but that ship sailed a long time ago...The writing hasn't been as good since D&D passed the books in season five.
We're not allowed to enjoy the show anymore. Manlaw or something.

I didn’t read the books but I could tell when they finished the books and started catering to the fans...
Doesn’t sound like you are enjoying anything, but...ok
Some people might be able to enjoy the mindless entertainment- I enjoy breaking down why the picture on the right sucks more than the picture on the left.
I get that... for some of us its just well we might not enjoy it anymore but we gotta finish it (many other references could have been made here)Look, I'm just saying... EVERYBODY knows the writing on the show isn't what it was since they overtook GRRMs source material and GRRM left the show as a principal screenwriter and consultant. This isn't news.
It is also true that people can still enjoy a TV show that isn't on the same level as The Wire or Breaking Bad anymore.
My point is, the last 20 pages of this thread is really just miserable old shits complaining. Frankly, I don't know why some of you even bother watching.
