Calling Phillip Morrrrreeeees!
Sorry, make that Rober Morris.
I just love to watch these guys play. So much energy.
Last year we were wondering where we would get an offensive weapon. This year there isn't a player on the court who is afraid to put the ball up. Granted, things will change when we are againt better D's and folks have a hand in their face. But you are going to have to cover everyone - not just isolate on Tony or JJ.
What impressed me most was that it seemed early Matta had 'fixed' Fus. He put one up on the first possession from the top of the key at the start of the possession. It has been three years since I saw him shoot from outside with more than a few seconds left - no matter how open he was. He missed that one, but made his next two all within the first three minutes. Shame he went out with the sprain, but Matta seems to think he could be back Friday.
Everybody else played as they have been. JJ is starting to really zero in (two alley oops tonight) and Foster just blows me away. Butler has a handle on the ball and it is only a matter of time before he starts scoring. My only real disappointment is Billings. He just doesn't seem to have his head in the game.
And talk about D - 17 minutes into the game before a second player scored for RM. One man had 12 of their 16 first half points and he was not one of the three scorers who were supposed to do damage. They just locked them up.
Just a fun, fun team to watch. Sure, it is only Robert Morris - but it was only three or four rinky-dinky schools who took us down early last year, and we never really recovered.
I am so ready for this season.
(Oh, and BTW - Ronald Lewis is a clothes horse! Three games and three different nice looking suits. First night it was all silver with a pink shirt. I hope this kid doesn't have a deal with Harry's Big and Tall for signed basketballs or something.)
(And another BTW - the hardest job tonight had to go to the Robert Morris cheerleaders. Half their squad falied to complete the Jenny Craig program and they were out there at center court cheering and not a soul in that arena was there to see Robert Morris.)
