IOWA CITY, Iowa ? More than 400 people were turned away from Saturday's sold-out Ohio State-Iowa football game because they had unwittingly bought counterfeit tickets, university officials said Monday.
Ticket Manager David Sandstrum said fans who bought the fake tickets were bilked out of as much as $100,000.
Police arrested three out-of-state men on Saturday and accused them of selling fake tickets.
"This is the first time I'm aware of someone selling fake ... tickets," said Capt. Larry Langley of the university police department.
Demitrus Williams, 29, of Bronx, N.Y., is accused of forgery, fourth-degree criminal mischief and obstructing emergency communications, police said.
Calvin Harris of Apopka, Fla., and Kevin Bryant of Decatur, Ga., also were arrested and accused of selling fake tickets, Langley said.
