Game Thread Game Eleven: Ohio state 25, Michigan 21 (final)

I'm pissed...somebody at work sent an email out selling 4 tickets to The Game at face value. But by the time I freaking responded they were already gone. SO CLOSE!!!!! I want to go to this game so bad.

In other news...here's the forcast for The Game...per weather channel is cloudy with showers (30%) temp in the low to mid 40s.

4 Days until

People who are heading to the game......

Don't race to the game, sheriff's deputies warn

Football fans beware: Hancock County sheriff's deputies will be watching your driving on Saturday.

As part of an annual traffic enforcement blitz, deputies will increase patrols on Ohio 15 prior to and after the Ohio State/Michigan game.

This year's contest is being played in Ann Arbor starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, and the four-lane highway, which runs between U.S. 23 and Interstate 75 in Hancock County, is a primary route used by those traveling to the game from the Columbus area.
Because of the big game, the sheriff's office says the highway experiences a high traffic volume during that period.
As a result, deputies will be concentrating on OVI enforcement, right of way violations, speeding, and occupant restraint violations.

Sheriff's Sgt. John Clevidence said the purpose is to reduce fatalities, and OVI-related injuries, and increase the use of occupant restraints in the county.
The enforcement effort is being made possible through a federal grant received through the governor's Highway Safety Office

If Michigan (7-3, 5-2) wins and Penn State loses, the three teams would earn a share of the Big Ten title with 6-2 records. The Wolverines would be the BCS representative because of wins over OSU and Penn State.
dear lord....we can't let these fucks represent the Big Ten in the BCS again. Have they ever won a BCS game?

Working late tonight to finish urgent things for work, but had to share this.

My office is located in an area that gets a lot of foreign tourists. Today, I saw one wearing TSUN colors. So, I said, "From Michigan?" He said, "yeah, you too?" "Nope, I'm from Ohio State, I suppose you know The Game is this week." "Yeah, I know, 10,000 miles and I still find one of you guys to rub my face in it!" We both had a laugh and he walked on.

I don't get many moments like that but when they come, I REALLY enjoy them.

Didn't think about it until I read this thread but, if I can only figure out which hotel he's in, I suppose I should report a suspicious person to the police. You know they love talking about having their bags checked.

The Weasels are 1-2 in BCS games with their win coming against Alabama in 2000, winning 35-34 in OT. (link)

Funny aside: I got on one of scUM's websites to attempt to find that answer and ran across this:

Click on the UM vs. OSU link from the above link and it brings you to this site:

Gotta love the laziness of Weasels!

Updated (11-15-2005) my program stats for UM/OSU week, current through all games played:

History since 1935 (when "The Game" was moved to the last game of the regular season schedule):

OSU 31 - UM 35 - TIES 4
OSU 26 Big-10 Championships - UM 27 Big-10 Championships
OSU 5 National Championships ('42, '54, '57, '68, '02)* - UM 2 National Championships ('48, '97)
OSU 6 Heisman Trophies ('44, '50, '55, '74, '75, '95) - UM 3 Heisman Trophies ('40, '91, '97)
OSU 132 All Americans - UM 110 All Americans
OSU 17-18-0 (.486) in Bowl Games - UM 17-18-0 (.486) in Bowl Games
OSU 6-6-0 (.500) in 12 Rose Bowl Appearances** - UM 7-11-0 (.388) in 18 Rose Bowl Appearances
OSU 536-184-22 (.722) - UM 534-199-17 (.712)

* The NC measurements are subject to debate. I'm tracking the generally accepted consensus and/or split titles from the AP, UPI, and Coaches Polls. If you count the NCAA's record book for titles recognized by schools, the line would actually read:

OSU 7 National Championships ('42, '54, '57, '61, '68, '70, '02) - UM 3 National Championships ('47, '48, '97)

** One stat that is diminished (or not a true reflection of the parity of the two programs) is the Rose Bowl appearances measure. OSU has missed three Rose Bowl appearances to UM's one:

OSU missed the 2003 Rose Bowl following a 13-0 season in 2002 for the Fiesta Bowl BCS National Championship game, declined the 1962 Rose Bowl invitation at the conclusion of the 1961 season, and was prohibited from appearing in the 1956 Rose Bowl due to the "no repeat" rule after turning in a 7-2-0 record in the 1955 season, highlighted by a 6-0-0 conference run.

UM was denied a Rose Bowl appearance as a result of the "no repeat" rule for the 1949 Rose Bowl, following an undefeated 9-0-0 1948 national title campaign (itself a follow-up of the 10-0-0 team from 1947).
