Gallery: OSU BB Summer League

A MAN OF BETRAYED JUSTICE

I stopped by the Worthington Summer League where a number of future, current and former buckeye players compete along with many other Ohioans. Got to see firsthand how outstanding Sylvester Mayes and Ronald Lewis are... and Brayden Bell will add depth and versatility (perimeter shooting) to the 5 position. Also got shots of former buckeyes competing (like Penn and Fuss-Cheatum) as well as graduates in the stands (Michael Redd was there but did not make the final cut for the gallery). It was a great atmosphere where the players stopped during timeouts and would interact with the kids.

Brayden showed some good range, however the defense in tihs summer league is a little suspect. He did not seem too sluggish to me however despite the rumors of that being the case.

Scoonie Penn looks like he could still take us to another final four... it was very nostalgic watching him run the offense... especially up close for the first time. The last picture was included because of the humorous pose of Scoonie as well as the scary eyes on the right...

Dials looked to be in great shape. I'm eager to see what he can do with a little bit of help off the bench from Bell, enabling him to actually rest once in a while. He was a presence inside on both ends of the floor.

It was great to see how recruits, current players and former Ohioans (both buckeyes and others) all hung out together. Pictured here is former buckeye Brian Brown talking to Foster and Dials after their game.

Matt Terwilliger showed some decent range but did not get the ball enough to properly gauge his talent. I really wanted to see Sylvester play, but his sandals suggested he may have been sitting out for an injury or something like that.

Ronald Lewis was a treat to watch... I see why the staff felt he was the best player on the team last year despite how good Dials is... (to clarify, he had to sit out 04-05 due to transferring from BG)

BFC seemed to have put on a couple of pounds but could still fly pretty well... he schooled the defenders that tried to guard him tightly...

Horrendous traffic all the way from SW MI caused me to miss most of the Buckeye Corner game, so I did not have a chance to get a good picture of Sylvester Mayes... but the kid is lightning off the dribble.

Hmm... we'll have to look into that. I've made sure to keep all of my picture threads free so that I can share them freely with BP (I don't post them over on any other site).

BTW, this is not a backhanded attempt to drive traffic over there... my main role is here at BP. However, I'm working occasionally as a photographer for SGN since they are a more legit news source which helps when trying to land press credentials to limited access events.

Hmm, as far as the school is concerned, they shouldn't be any more 'legitimate' than we are. The difference maker for them with BN and BSB are the print publications. As both BP and SGN are online only, we're the same creature in their eyes as I understand it. Maybe something has changed though, who knows. Perhaps with commercialism comes legitimacy, it really wouldn't surprise me.

It moreso comes down to the fact that OSU is stingy with their press credentials, and so I might have a better shot working with Hayn and for Alan. We'll see how it works out.

Either way all of the pictues taken by me will always be free. And a lot of the extra pictures that do not make it into my main gallery posts are uploaded into other areas here on BP, such as extra pictures of the same recruit (which would be repetitive in the camp gallery, but useful in a recruit thread).

Pictures of today's senior recruit camp to come hopefully tonight (if I can crop and upload all of the pictures by then). I'm looking forward to learning mor eabout sports photography while trying not to let my jaw drag on the ground too often as I witness all of these studs perform.

Until we resolve the "registration" requirement:

All of the photos have been added above.
