Walker talks weekend visit to Ohio State
The Buckeyes have had the luxury of hosting a few important recruiting weekends already this season, and while this past Saturday against the Hawkeyes wasn’t one of those, it still brought some intriguing talent to Ohio Stadium.

One of those being 2025 linebacker Mantrez Walker of Buford (GA), who self-reported an offer from the Buckeyes at the conclusion of his visit — which he certainly didn’t hold back about when discussing with Garrick Hodge of Eleven Warriors.

“It was the greatest experience I ever had,” Walker revealed to Hodge. “I loved the relationships built with the coaches, and I loved the history and game atmosphere. They have a great defensive scheme, and they really showed me how I would fit into it. I got some great takeaways from it. I’m definitely applying what I was taught into my game.”

Hodge notes that Walker, who also is a track and field athlete, was able to spend time with members of the defensive coaching staff including defensive coordinator Jim Knowles.

BREAKING: Michigan loses commitment in 2025 class

The Wolverines suffer a loss in its 2025 recruiting class on Monday night

Buford (Ga.) 2025 three-star linebacker Mantrez Walker decommitted from Michigan on Monday night, he reported via his Twitter account.

“First off, I would like to thank the Michigan staff for allowing me to represent their university as a student athlete. After lots of talks with my mom and dad, I have come to the decision to announce that I will be decommitting from the University of Michigan and continuing to explore my options. Thank you for everything.”

The 6-foot, 215-pounder had verbally pledged to the Wolverines back in February, but has continued to pick up offers from other programs and visit several different schools since then.

Ex-Michigan commit visiting Penn State next month

The 2025 linebacker is planning on making it to State College in October.

2025 Buford (Ga.) linebacker Mantrez Walker committed to Michigan in February, but is back on the market as an uncommitted recruit and is planning on returning to Penn State for a visit next month. Walker posted Monday night on "X" that he will be in State College when the Nittany Lions play host to Indiana on Oct. 28.

Penn State offered Walker on Nov. 30 and he visited for a Junior Day on Jan. 14. He committed to Michigan less than a month later, but had glowing things to say about the Nittany Lions following his trip to State College.

"[Defensive coordinator] Manny Diaz and [head coach] James Franklin's vision, the feeling of being a priority and also being able to come in and play early and also the rich culture and history," Walker said of what stood out to him about his visit. "I like how it's simple and the defense is built around the linebackers to make plays. They can play free and go knock people out.
