There is still a long list for the 2026 four-star defensive tackle from Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill but Ohio State is setting the bar high. From the talent of the players to the coaching staff to how position coach Larry Johnson works his guys out to so much more, the Buckeyes are definitely one of the main contenders for the Ole Miss legacy who was born in Baton Rouge, La. The current players and coaches also made it clear to Geralds that he’s a high priority and needed in Columbus and that stood out as well.

Daverin Geralds

Daverin Geralds
The SEC legacy was back at Ohio State for its spring game, checking in with the Buckeyes for the third time. Beyond Larry Johnson, Geralds is high on other assistant coaches and the prestige of the program.
The four-star was also back at Ole Miss, where his father played, and the familiarity in Oxford is unmatched given how well received the family is in town. LSU also recently brought in the Baton Rouge native, who mentioned Oklahoma, Auburn and Texas among other programs doing well with him early on.

Givler really likes Geralds to OSU. A lot of interesting commonalities with the Buckeyes:
Assistant D-Line coach LaAllan Clark went to the same high school as Geralds' father
Newly hired DL Program Asst Brandon Jordan is also from the same area as Geralds' father and played against him in the Arena League
Caleb Downs' father, Gary, goes over to Collins Hill each week to read devotional passages to the team.

I think we can start warming up those nanners

And as a fellow former DB, I too would be clueless on what to do with a RB that big and fast. Other than TRY and go as low as possible and pray for help
This very scenario happened to me when Nathan Williams also played RB at 245 and had about 15 yards head of steam. I went low and prayed for the best.

Rivals recently bumped Duece Geralds to the #12 recruit in the country and had this to say about him:

After seeing him this offseason at the Pylon Southern California event and then seeing him dominate at the Rivals Five-Star, Geralds needed to move up and pushing him for the No. 1 defensive tackle in the country only made sense. Geralds has an NFL pedigree, he's getting bigger and stronger every time I see him and he's super tough. At the Five-Star event in Jacksonville, an entire dreadlock was ripped out of his head and Geralds laughed it off and kept getting after it.
