THE HURRY-UP: FIVE-STAR 2024 DEFENSIVE END EDDRICK HOUSTON INCLUDES OHIO STATE IN HIS TOP 10 SCHOOLS LIST AND SEVERAL COMMITS IMPRESS ON THE GRIDIRON

One of Ohio State’s top defensive end targets in the 2024 class has started to narrow down his recruitment.

Five-star Georgia prospect Eddrick Houston released a top 10 on Tuesday consisting of Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Michigan State, Clemson, Oklahoma, Tennessee and LSU.

The recruitment of Houston is not expected to be a fast one, as the playmaking defensive end does not plan on deciding until his senior year of high school. Houston took an unofficial visit to Ohio State earlier this fall for the Buckeyes’ season opener against Notre Dame and was impressed by the team’s defensive scheme.

“It was great just to see the energy and how electric it is when the Buckeyes play,” Houston told Eleven Warriors in September. “I saw great things from the different types of schemes they run and how they try to utilize their players up front. (I liked) how they can have stand-up guys and four-point guys and still be able to rush the quarterback.”

Based on his experience, his trip to Columbus this fall won’t be his last.

“I’m for sure going to get back up there because I need to see more,” Houston said. “I didn’t get to see that much because I was stuck in traffic in Cincinnati and was late to some stuff, but I’m for sure going to get back up there and see what Ohio State has to offer.”

Ohio State’s coaches also came to him. During the team's off week in October, Ryan Day and Perry Eliano visited Buford for a highly-anticipated matchup with Mill Creek. The game featured multiple premier prospects in which the Buckeyes have interest, with Houston being one.

Just coming here to share the Fong bomb. Houston is just coming off an official visit to UGa, so for the CB to go the Bucks way...:sneaky:

Birm has liked the chances here all along. One of the other recruiting guys, I forget who or I'd credit him, was raving about Houston several weeks ago. He thought he was a Bosa/Young type.

Houston and Lightfoot would be a very strong bounce back for LJ.

It was Marc Givler. He had just finished watching one of their spring scrimmages. They do yearly tours of southern schools with OSU targets. He said Eddrick was the best player they saw on their trip this year.

Edited to add quick video from Marc

Not completely out of left field. I know he isn’t as visible anymore since he’s behind a paywall, but Birm called him to the class since like February.
Gotcha thanks, I mostly just follow the threads here and any articles posted, so I had no idea without much activity in here until recently. Welcome news though if it goes down, was getting a tad concerned at DE until it looks now like Houston and Lightfoot are trending our way recently.

Agree would be a great replacement for JT and Sawyer. Do, however, wonder why UGA hasn't been in on this guy. They collect 5*s like butterflies. Anyone got any thoughts? Like the odds Pnut quoted. would bet those in Vegas (Reno actually), but this is recruiting afterall, and the odds change like the weather. Go Bucks!
