Future Bucks' Draft Predictions

Speedy Ginn Jr. looks like OSU's top pro

Monday, January 22, 2007

Ohio State juniors Ted Ginn Jr., Anthony Gonzalez and Antonio Pittman are skipping their final year of eligibility and joining senior quarterback Troy Smith in the NFL draft. What Ohio State player do you believe has the best chance to be successful as a pro?

I knew that Ginn would be going first, but most successful can be argued. Yes Ginn is fast and everything in the article, but comparing Ginn to TS would be like comparing apples to oranges, correct me if I'm wrong but you can't really do it. I think that if you can compare them, it would depend on the teams the two are put on for help around them.

I'd say Pittman has the best chance at having a good career out of that group.

I think Troy will be a good player and I think Ted might be a pro-bowler someday, but I think Pittman is the most likely to find himself in a good position to make an impact earlier on in his career.

Gonzalez would be my 2nd pick. It's pretty clear that he won't be a #1 receiver in the NFL and that's good, because it suits his game to be a #2 or #3 receiver......

I still think that Troy will be no lower than a 2nd round pick, even after the NC game. I thought he was a first rounder before the game, but the game hurt his stock very much. Still, with some good workouts, over time scouts will realize how good of a player he is, and balance out some of that damage done on 1/8/07.

Question, why has Quinn Pitcock's stock seem to have dropped so quickly?

He went from high middle 1st to out of the 1st round.

Did he get dominated in the NC game?

I don't know.....He didn't do to much in the NC game, but dropped entirely out of the first round seems a bit harsh....

Quinn is more of a high effort player, he doesn't have some of the measureables that scouts like. I thought he played great early but after Patterson's ankle and his concussion the DT play was not as strong against scUM and Fla. I was hopping QP and DP would drive the Gator guards back in Leak's face to disrupt the short passing game. If you look at the UT game DP and QP were beasts rushing the passer, but late in the year they were not as dominant. I thought the concussion was a problem but he should've been full strength in the NC game. I've read scouts are mixed on QP, he is comparable to Tim Anderson not a Tommy Harris who was a high to Mid 1st rounder.

Try a lot biased. Right now, Jamario should concentrate on getting his degree, because he certainly doesn't look like an NFL prospect, much less a first-rounder. As JWinslow said, JAMO may not even be a starter again at Ohio State - people have mentioned Russell and Patterson, but let's not forget Aaron Gant, and of course Eugene Clifford and some other youngsters will make a strong case for early playing time.

O'Neal might be a guy who simply peaked as a sophomore in high school.

O'Neal at this point might be better off moving to outside LB. He still has a redshirt year.

I dont know how you move Jam to Outside Linebacker....speed yes, tackling ability no........jamario seems suited for offense to me...he just doesnt have an instinct for the ball and space on defense imo...im not even sure if he played much o in high school but unless he figures something out on the defensive side of the ball, he isn;t going to be on the field a whole lot

Pitcock disappeared during the 2nd half of the year... not to mention he was over-rated to begin with... His strength is that he is strong and can hold the line of scrimmage vs double teams... and occasionally he can slip through a make a tackle for loss on a RB...

Overall though, he doesnt have pass rush moves and he's not nearly disruptive enough to warrant being selected in the 1st round... He's a mid-2nd round player in my mind.. at best..

OHIO STATE FOOTBALL
Two Buckeyes left off list of combine invitees
Friday, February 02, 2007

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

March 10 just became a lot more important to Antonio Smith and T.J. Downing.
That?s when Ohio State will have its annual pro day, in which Buckeyes draft prospects work out for NFL scouts.
It will be the only chance to impress the pros for Smith and Downing, who were not among the more than 300 players invited to the NFL combine, which begins Feb. 21.
Eight Buckeyes were invited: center Doug Datish, receivers Ted Ginn Jr. and Anthony Gonzalez, defensive tackles David Patterson and Quinn Pitcock, running back Antonio Pittman, defensive end Jay Richardson and quarterback Troy Smith.

Is there a limit on how many players from each school that can be invited to the combine? I'm a little surprised A. Smith didn't get an invite to show what hes got. But I may be a homer.

Unfortunately Yao didn't look so hot in his last 2 games and might have hurt his combine chances drastically in just those 2 performances. I do not believe there is a limit no.
