No, no one has ever made me feel bad. No, I never enslaved anyone, except with sex.

He can call himself whatever he wants. I won't view it because I don't want to support his idiocy and his continuation of racial sterotypes, not because it makes me uncomfortable that he is being racist.

I could give a shit if he called himself "Porchmonkey Pat" (It's ok, we're taking it back) but I don't have to support it by giving him hits to his page.

Well, depending on which version you believe...

'Honky' is a corruption of 'hungy' or 'hunky,' a term which originated in the stockyards and slaughterhouses of Chicago. African-American workers and Hungarian workers were two of the largest ethnic groups in the Chicago meat industry. Racial and ethnic tension between the two groups led Black workers to begin calling Hungarian workers, and those perceived as Hungarian workers, 'hunky' in retaliation for the familiar racist epithets to which African-American workers were subject. The corruption 'honky' emerged shortly thereafter.
Honky was later adopted as a pejorative in 1967 by black militants within SNCC seeking a rebuttal for the term ******. They settled on a familiar word they felt was disparaging to certain Americans of European descent; hunkie meaning an American of Slavic or Hungarian descent.[1][2]

It is a fact that the term "honky" was, as a term for whites, derived from bohunk and hunky. In the early 1900's, these were derogatory terms for Bohemian, Hungarian, and Polish immigrants. According to Robert Hendrickson, author of the Encyclopedia of Word and Phrase Origins, Black workers in Chicago meat-packing plants picked up the term from white workers and began applying it indiscriminately to all Caucasians.

I researched into the origin of the word quite awhile back. It's most commonly accepted origin is some form of the above.



It made me realize that most likely, a lot of whites had no idea why it was an insult, only that it was being used as an insult. I'm also guessing that's why it probably never really upset anyone. :biggrin:
