Funny Tressel story....

Gosh its not like I condemned the fella to hell, but its just very shocking and takes a little bit away from my image of the guy.

I know plenty of guys cuss, hell I've got a sailor's mouth. I'm just saying that in my mental image of Tressel, its very shocking.

All that means is that my image was wrong, not Jim.

It's OK man, it doesn't make your image of him wrong...He just saves the f-bombs for more appropriate times instead of every other word, like the rest of us...

If true:

An example of appropriate language for the situation.

I agree wholeheartedly. I know a guy who drops the F-bomb maybe once every 2 years; maybe even less. When he does drop it, the whole room goes silent and he has everyone's attention.

Using language like this casually removes its shock value. Using it sparingly, or almost never, gives it the power to silence... anyone.

It actually makes my image of him better. I dont trust a man who won't cuss. Most coaches agree that if you are addressing the group and say "fuck" every sentence, it waters it down.....but in a more personal situation, it drives the point home. Plus, the kids will relate and respect him more, b/c they know he isn't 100% pure and perfect.
