Woody wore Sambas
Nick Mangold, AJ Hawk, Bobby Carpenter,etc. were in Dayton for the Sonny Unger Award dinner-former Centerville star who was killed in Vietnam-has a scholarship named after him. Anyway, during a Q and A session, someone asks the guys if Tressel ever yelled at them. They said that at the PSU game this year, the charter plane was late, the AC was busted on the bus, the weather was muggy,etc,etc, and Bobby Carpenter was bitching up a storm on the back of the bus. Well, finally, Tressel gets up, completely quiet, walks up to Carpenter and whispers in his ear "Shut the fuck up". Not a peep out of Bobby until they enter the stadium.

i could completely see that. in fact, thats whats so funny about this story. as i read the story i pictured in my mind carp complaining, tress calmly getting up and walking over to him, then carp sitting straight up and silent for the rest of the trip.

great story, god i love tress :).

That reminds me of the story that Michael Jenkins told about JT when he was first hired in 2001. Jenkins was asked by a reporter whether JT was always calm, cool, and buttoned-down, or if behind closed doors he could be a mean S-O-B.

Jenkins recounted the flight to LA in 2001 to play UCLA, when the stewardesses complained that they couldn't close the cabin doors or prepare for take off because some of the guys were unruly or refused to remove their head phones and listen to the flight attendants pre-flight instructions. This was a particularly bad time to be difficult on an airplane, since it was only a week and a half following the 9/11 attack. While recalling the story, Jenkins grinned and said JT held an impromptu team meeting in a conference room at the airport when the plane landed, and there was "never another problem on any airplane following that."

does anybody remember the story about Tress and Will Smith? If memory serves correctly, Smith kept parking his car in Tressels spot, so made an announcement during practice that his car had been towed.

maybe somebody with a better memory can correct/fill in the gaps.

Sorry to burst your bubble but 99.9% of college football coaches cuss and many like sailors.

I know a guy that played for Tressel at Youngstown St. and I asked him if Tressel cussed and he said "yes."

Not a lot but enough to get the point across.
