OMG! Now that I've had time to play it for a couple of days I am now positively blown away. Even though its missing online play, the $50 for this game is a pittance for the hours, heck, months or years you'll have fun playing this game. Photomode is so much fun! Here are some pics I took:

I'm driving the black S2000 (stage 3 turbo, among other mods, pulls about 420 HP). The RX-7 that I out-cornered had about 80 more HP than me, but since I pulled some crazy turns I was barely able to beat him.

Hey, thats what I did. Probably going to get a steering wheel too. All just for one game? You bet. Totally worth it.

For those of you that have the game, I found a way to get ridiculous amounts of money really fast. You got to have a good car (I used the 350Z LM Race car that I won in the All Japan Series), but you can by a WRX STi Spec-C or something similar, kit it out, and do the second "Special Conditions" race, Costa di Amalfi (its a street course, don't need dirt tires). Finish the race, takes 10 minutes, and get the prize car. Its a Toyota RSC Rally Concept worth...$250,000! Sell it! Repeat until your heart is content with the assloads of cash that you have.

Why stop there? This game has taken over a better part of all my free time...a MUST have for any car nut, even if you don't have a PS2. It is worth the extra $150 to buy one, and I am by no means joking.

man i love this game, i just got it over the weekend, and i'm the farthest thing from a car nut, you don't have to know the first thing about cars to appreciate how awesome this game is...........my favorite aspect of this game is how you can pick up sweet and rare cars in the used car showrooms, but if you don't check often you'll miss them

This game is pretty tight, though it seems weird that PS2 would reserve these kinds of graphics just for this game. I seriously doubt this programming team discovered a secret that allowed them to have much grander visuals than the 100s of games before them. Any ideas why they would get a special hook up from the people at ps2?

As for models, I still think they look pretty comparable to the models for Project Gotham Racing 2 which came out quite a while ago.
