FSU vs PSU (Orange Bowl) - Official thread

Head Coach
I figured I would throw this thread out there. Two legendary coaches going head to head. I really feel Paterno's team has the edge in this one, but not by much. I think FSU packed it in for a while when they knew they were in the ACC championship game.

This is going to be a fun game to watch and hopefully the big ten can come out on top.

As for a really out of whack stat I thought I would throw out there, there are 45 teams that made bowl games that have an even or better record than FSU, and they made a BCS bowl. GO FIGURE.

im kind of disapointed, i wanted va tech to play penn state in a bowl because i wanted to see a big ten team get a chance to whoop up on the hokies and shut all of their fans up. florida state is still a decent team, but i think penn state wins this one fairly convincingly.

Well shouldnt it shut them up that they played two good teams all year and got spanked by both. Tell them just to imagine what PSU would do them.

Penn St. has opened as a 7.5 pt. favorite. Give me a half a point and I would like it.

I'm not complaining about this matchup. I'll be happy to see a Big-10 team beat one of the Big-3 Florida schools.

With 2 BCS teams, the Big-10 got tougher matchups in other games, like Iowa-Florida and Wiscy-Auburn.

Some would say that PennSt-Auburn, Wiscy-Florida, and Iowa-FSU would be better games.

No matter what, as long as the Big-10 gets 2 wins out of PSU, Iowa, and Wiscy, it will be good for the conference.

Report from Tallahassee

After talking to the Seminole fans here at work, I have to say that the mood here in Tallanasty is very, very confident. In one game they have gone from believing that Bowden might never win another game to thinking that they "match up well" against Penn State.

I'm not a trash-talker, so I just discussed the match-up of Tamba Hali vs. their offensive tackles and left it at that.

This should be interesting to say the least.

I too feel it will be a close game, but I just think while FSU has a good defense PSU will be able to put up enough points and stop FSU. I see a couple stupid mistakes by Weatherford in this game swinging the game in PSU's favor.

I went to the ACC championship game and believe me the FSU fans did not think they were going to win that game. It was unbelievable how down they were. The Hokie fans showed up feeling very confident. My friend who got me a ticket did not thnk the Noles could win. Naturally i was decked out in
Scarlet and Gray and i sure did draw alot of attention. It was all in good nature and alot of Hokie fans really wanted to play us if they had the chance. I told them in no uncertain terms that they would NOT even stand a chance against Ohio State. But still the Noles prevailed and hung in there to win. I thought it was going to a runnaway game early in the 4th with the score 27 - 3. But VA/Tech started to come back but ran out of time. Then the mood turned 180 degrees and the swagger was back for FSU. Now the talk is naturally of JoePa versus Bobby. And thats all they could talk about. They all wished me good luck against Notre Dame and it was 4 am in the morning by the time i got home. It was great fun.

Kip, how was the attendance at the ACC championship? I know it's hard to tell on tv, but it looked like there were more than a few empty seats. The only reason that I'm asking is that it leads to a bigger question. Do these conference championship games really draw or is it a tv thing? Does the average fan travel to a conference championship game or save it for the bowl game? If a playoff system is ever implemented, these factors should be considered. And, since I'm off topic, I will root for the Big 10 in this one.
